By Lucasfilm you mean ILM, who actually did the visual effects for Transformers too. It just shows how far CGI can come in the space of two years, then again this had very little blue/green screen filming so it meant more time and money could be spent on just the rendering and animation of the robots. I give Bay credit for tackling visual effects well, i.e only using them when needed, but other then that this was not a great example of film-making nor his best film. The Island was far superior, thanks largely to the "borrowed" script and being a box office disaster, which just proves how superior it was to his other efforts.

RE: Transformers Movie

I just saw this today, and while I personally would like to slap Michael Bay a few times, I have to say I overall enjoyed it.
Shia wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be, I thought we'd get another I, Robot performance out of him, but as he made himself as a comedic actor on Disney, he was able to show off his talents.
The transformers themselves were really well done, and they were able to humanize them enough that when certain things happened to characters, like Bubblebee being captured and then his reactions once released, you really felt for the characters.
That is I think where the movie was saved, you felt for the characters, even the CGI transformers. Also, the references to this being a toy/comic/cartoon series before hand were nicely subtle instead of banged over your head.
But, of course, Michael Bay has to strike again both with very typical camera angles and action sequences, and his political commentary while a few times can be funny, was, of course, overdone to death...
I can forgive it in light of my favorite characters being treated rather well, (starscream rules), and for some geniunely well done fun.

Looks like Micheal Bay will not be doing transformer 2 due to the release of Transformer 1 on DVD.
Paramount want it to release the movie only on HD-DVD and Blu-ray.

It's hard work reading your posts DA6! Do you never read them before posting? Basically what you meant to say was;
Michael Bay has said that he will not do Transformers 2 as Paramount are exclusively a HD-DVD studio and will not release the movie on Blu-Ray. There will be a normal DVD release for the masses of course.
