FINDING THE FORCE - In search of the locations of Star Wars
|
Just thought I would let you all know that I am now planning several journeys around the world to visit the major if not all the locations used in the Star Wars Saga! The working project title is FINDING THE FORCE
So far the list is looking like this...
Finse, Norway - Hoth (well der!)
Death Valley California - Tatooine
Tunisia (A wealh of locations) - Tatooine
Redwood Forests, California - Endor
Tikal, Guatemala - Yavin
Whippendell Wood, London, Naboo Woods
Seville, Spain - Naboo Spaceport, or palace grounds (not sure which!)
Lake Como Italy, Naboo Retreat.
Reggia Palace, Italy - Naboo Palace
Mount Etna, Sicily, Italy.
I am also hoping to visit a few studio locations, although I doubt I will get anywhere near the soundstages.
Obviously lots more planning to do, but if you guys can let me know of any other locations...
The idea is to visit locations in groups, Italy, then Tunisia, Norway, then USA etc...
I found some good websites to point me in the right direction, but if anyone is interested in coming along, or has already been to any of these places - let me know!!!!
I shall use this thread to let you know how I am getting along...
Cheers!

Australia baby!
Of course most of Episode III was filmed in the Fox studios there. I would have to get some concrete agreement to get inside if I was to travel all that way!
I noticed a place in China that Kashyyk was based on although the footage was never actually used.
Thanks for the link!

I'll send you the research body. A lot of my dissertation is literature review, statistics, interviews etc and pretty irrelevant.. Not sure how helpful it will be, but anything to help

We have a window for our first venture... Tunisia! The plan is to go last 2 weeks July 2008. At CE I met some guys from Rebelsucm.com, Jeremy Beckett and Gus Lopez. They gave a FANTASTIC presentation covering SW Locations from all over the world. I thought I knew pretty much all of them, I DON'T THINK SO!!!!! Switzerland, Taiwan, to name a few that were new to me!!!
I got chatting to Jeremy, who turns out only to live an hour away from me!!! He and Gus have given me lots of guidance and really set FINDING THE FORCE in the best possible direction!

Darren, I actually stood next to you a couple of times at CE but didn't manage to say hello
Did see your question about the leg in the Anthony Daniels talk though
And I missed the presentation on the locations too

just paint a wall green and stand in front of it - that's about 99% of PT sets covered

Thought this might be slightly relevant, but I received a 2:1 mark for my Star Wars Tourism dissertation

Thanks George. Haven't quite completed my degree yet. I have a couple of minor resits to take, but with the dissertation counting for a third of my degree, and a final mark of 73 for my Tourism and Sustainability module, I'm looking at a 2:1, possibly a 1st, if I'm very lucky, in total.
