I smell a rat, I must admit. It's funny how the release date push-back coincided with the writers strike coming to a head. What's more, a Boxing Day release would have been very profitable if you go by how well I am Legend performed and that most films released at that time of the year are kids films, not to mention the real big guns, that being Bond 22 and Harry Potter, are out in November ergo making the competition in December pretty small. Much smaller then in May at any rate!!

Perhaps they've decided that Star Trek has got to the stage where they have little inspiration left (although Enterprise should've shown them that) and they want it to die with dignity by trying to make it a massive summer movie.

It might work.

The thing that gets me worried is what Anton Yelchin (New Chekov) has been saying.

He talked about the end scene when you see all the crew together and you see everyone in the gold, blue, and red Uniforms.

That doesn't fit with Captain Pike's Starfleet uniform during the mid 23rd century, there was only Gold, beige and blue. I thought this was a Prequel, So much for continuity.

....no red but it was more like green, gold and blue (plus nice mid-grey jackets for the landing party). Anyway, what with all the time travel involved who is to say where this scene takes place?

From AICN;

And then… the new Enterprise. As a toy it had a great
TOS feel to it. It’s a little more ‘organic’ than the original one and I
think the two warp engines and the ‘bite’ taken from the central body are a
little bit bigger. The floor of the new transporter room is red, by the way.

We can see evidence of this on the warp nacelles in the teaser trailer. Those two rails towards the rear of the nacelles blend into the structure in the "new" NCC-1701.
