GREETINGS!!!
Welcome to the message forums of the Fan Force United Kingdom!
So, what's the difference between this "regional" forum, and all those pretty "chapter" forums? Well, the chapters are places for people in the same area to arrange real life meet-ups and discuss upcoming events. This regional board is a place to let your hair down and chat about, well, pretty much whatever you want!
In case this is your first visit here, I'll try and give a bit of info about the different chapters we have, although you'll probably get a much better idea if you hop along over to them and have a gander yourself
FanForce is basically the "real life" arm of TheForce.net
We are a group of people who enjoy meeting up, basically. Some of us like to wear SW costumes, some of us like to make films, some of us just like to go to pubs and enjoy a beer. It really doesn't matter. What's important is that we share an interest and we can make real friends here!
Let me give you an example of my first meet-up experience here. I went to a barbeque which was organised by the chaps here, and I broke down on the way (as in my car broke, not me personally ). Another member went out of his way to help me out. He arranged for the car to be picked up, and repaired, at the cheapest garage he could find and paid them. All this after we had only met the one time (plus the fact I beat him at bowling!). As I say, you can make real friends here
So, let's see what chapters we currently have up and running. You will see that each chapter has a "CR" or "Chapter Representative". If you look at the FanForce Rules thread (above this one), you can get a better idea of what they do. Basically they are a member chosen by the group to sort out organising meet-ups, and to be a port of call for anyone with any questions.
So, back to the chapters
FF-UK: South | Message forum located here | Chapter Representative: Cobrananconda
The FF-UK South surrounds FF-UK: London, and has one of the largest areas to cover. A relatively new official chapter, Milton Keynes and the conventions held there have been a focal point for FF-UK: South, though there are other conventions in places such as Bristol, dedicated to Star Wars.
FF-UK: London | Message forum located here | Chapter Representative: Lord-Tice
The longest established chapter in the FF-UK, the London FanForce has held many a meet through the years and participated in promotional activities at several London-based shows. In July 2007, this fine city hosted Celebration Europe, which we also managed to combine the annual European FanForce meet with. FF-UK:London also has a strong history of arranging meets with fellow FanForcers from across the globe, showing exactly what a global community like the FanForce is all about.
FF-UK: Midlands and Wales | Message forum located here | Chapter Representative: rebeljediknight_88
Established July 2005, FF-UK: Midlands has run tables at several events and done many charity events. Early in 2008, Midlands and Wales merged to form one chapter. We hope that they will be a very active chapter in the future.
FF-UK: North | Message forum located here | Chapter Representative: suzijedi
FF-UK: North became an official chapter in November 2005 and has since then attended many conventions around the UK, hosting a table at Collectormania Manchester G-Mex in February and November 2006. They have participated in many charity events, and have, alongside the costuming groups they are linked with, raised around £2000 in the past year for many individual charities. On the social side, they have had many local meetups, cross-country trips to meet members from opposite sides of the North, and other chapters, and a noted fondness for curry.
FF-UK: Scotland | Message forum located here | Chapter Representative: JED1
FF-UK: Scotland had their first meet in Glasgow in November 2006, and now are planning more events for 2007, including Collectormania Glasgow in August 2007. A great bunch of founding members, and our newest Official chapter! Congrats
FF-UK RSAs
Working alongside the Chapter Representatives to further the Fan Force United Kingdom as a fan group is the Regional Support Administrator (RSA) whose role it is to moderate the forums (editing unsuitable threads/posts, upholding FF/JC policy, resolving member issues), supporting all members and chapters, and providing a voice for UK members to the administration. The current RSAs are halibut and Spike2002. They also have other contact details in their profiles, which all members of the FF-UK are free to use to contact them.
Welcome to the Fan Force United Kingdom!!!!
