3. Blood Diamond
2. This is England
1. Bourne Ultimatum
As for turkies...well pirates of the carribean was sooo boring, it went on and bloody on. Also, Superbad...super bad is putting it mildly, it's awful. Strangely Empire gave it 5 stars.
I enjoyed 'I am Legend'...however the book is quite different.
I'm keeping an eye on the progress of 'Watchmen' and hoping they don't make a mockery of it, as pretty much every film based on an Alan Moore piece of work has. Makes me so mad.
I'm very much looking forward to Dark Knight and I'm curious to see what they do with the Incredible Hulk.

1 - Transformers
Sorry Matt, I know you hate it, but it has huge robots beating several shades of metal out of each other, amazing sound design, and a fantastic orchestral score. It's funny too. Such a huge amount of fun is hard to find in the cinema these days.
2 - The Bourne Ultimatum
This is amazingly well made. The narrative whips along at such a pace, and before you know it, it's over and you want to watch it again.
3 - Order of the Phoenix
I don't think this is the best Potter Film, but from my recollection of the book it was a pretty decent adaptation. I've unfortunately only seen it once, but I'm looking forward to many future viewings of it.
If this was a top five, I would probably have included I Am Legend and Stardust...
In 2008, I will be looking forward to: (In no particular order)
Cloverfield, Star Trek, Indina Jones, Sweeney Todd, AVP: Requiem, and probably several others which have at the moment escaped my mind...
Edit - The Dark Knight! How on earth could I have forgotten that!? It's gonna be awesome!

I hear that Jurassic Park 4 is in production and has a listed release date of 2008, so not sure when it will be out.

Go read the book and you will realise just how mistaken you are.
I had high hopes for this film , but yet again Will Smith has "starred" in yet another film that Pee's all over its original subject material, just as he did in I Robot.
Plus the CGI was bad. Not just poor, but bad ...really bad.
I mean, they couldn't even get the meaning of the book/film's title right F*S!!! The whole point of the story is that through his killing of the vampires HE has become the stuff of legend to them the way they were once the legend to us. <---used as they do not have a smilie for more peed of with this film than can be expressed!
PS My ire is not directed at you HussienMedia but I would strongly suggest you read the book.

Gotta agree with you there. The book is quite different from the film.
The books ending is fabulous.
Alan Moore wrote 'From Hell', perhaps the most indepth work on Jack the Ripper. Very detailed and thorough.
Some film company gets their mits on it, calls there film 'From Hell' and says its based on the work of Alan Moore, they stick Johnny Deppe in it and turn it into a love story....errrrm - this film is based on the graphic novel how?

I Am Legend, for the first 3/4 at least, is the best film of the year. After that it becomes distinctly average.

I have just read a post on here effectively saying how can you put I am Legend in your top 3 because it wasn't like the book, well my answer to that is so what! You shouldn't come on here and diss another posters likes or dislikes, we are all different and like different things! and that should be the end of it.
For the record I first read I Am Legend over twenty years ago and thought it was fantastic, so much so that I re-read it every couple of years or so. Yes the new film doesn't follow the same storyline but that doesn't make it a bad film. I thought the film was very well acted, the story was great and the atmosphere and action were brilliant. I enjoyed it for what it was, a post apocalyptic action film. I also loved the Omega Man way back in the 70's which again was based on the book but didn't follow it exactly. It wasn't spoiled by thinking oh no it's not like the book!
This thread is for personal top three, I wouldn't for a second say I disagreed with another persons choices, even if I didn't like them!
Rant over

Ok, first, something based on a book or any other piece of work does not have to be the same. It has to me mentioned as based on the work if they use the same story and the same characters.
Many of the finest pieces of literature, film, TV & theatre are things based on previous works, some are better then original material.
I agree that I am Legend was good until about 3/4 through. I liked it a lot, and it is more like The Omega Manthen the book. I also thought some of the CGI was patchy, the mutated humans looked like the were CGI, the CG dogs looked more real.
The other thing that bugged me was if he found a cure that worked on animals why didn't it work on his dog?

I wouldn't care if a movie was like a book or not. LOTR was ace, and some elements of the book would've sucked had it been put on screen. Starship Troopers was quite fun too, even though it was nothing like the book.
And time and time again I listen to people complaining that Spiderman/Batman/Superman/X-men et al was nothing like the comics. Some people don't get it, "IT NEEDS TO TRANSLATE TO MOVIE FORMAT AND FOR A MAINSTREAM AUDIENCE!"

I don't really see how a comic book character can't translate well to the screen. Spider-Man looks like Spider-Man and that is what matters. Some stories are too small in comics to be copied to a film, so the film stories are obviously altered.
After all, if Spider-Man had actually got the symbiote suit in the Secret Wars it would've taken a whole movie to explain how he got there and what he did there.

Mine were
1.) 300
2.) Apocalypto
3.) Hot Fuzz
I also wanted to say Blade Runner the final cut, but as it was made in the 80's originally, I didn't think it would count

Blade Runner: The Final Cut is an interesting one, and I think it would count
It's a new cut and print, which got a limited UK cinema release (did your cinema show it Blue??), and I was mighty tempted to also put it in my top 3 list as it's one of my all-time fav films. I probably would have done if I went to see it at the cinema, but sadly I only got to watch it via the DVD player
While I've jested at some films that have made people's top three list, it is important to respect other people's choices and also very important to remember that it is also the overall experience of seeing a film that counts towards its final placing. In 2005 Revenge of the Sith came top of many people's list not because of the quality of the film, but the quality of the experience.

agreed. that last 3rd/quarter of the flick just finger painted all over what was potentially a fantastic film. ( I still don't get why the "vamps" were Cgi, though.)
as for Pirates, I never saw the third one - but the 2nd I really liked. yeah it was a wee bit long and the pacing was off, but aesthetically it was superior. I loved the whole Coral-look of the picture and to me it was a very good looking flick.
I think I have my 3 of the year ( suprisingly difficult, though).
1)Knocked Up - Brilliant.
2) Hot Fuzz: My friend who I went to see this with is an avid Wright/Pegg Fan and loves 'Shaun' and 'spaced' dearly. She absolutely hated "Hot Fuzz" and thought it was a piss-poor film by the duo. I agree, it lost edginess. and unlike in Spaced and Shaun, the subtlety was lacking. Saying that, I still very much liked it and a wise little comedy.
3) I'm tempted to say enchanted - So many let downs/films that just didn't stand out for me this year. Would have said I am Legend if it wasn't for that awful last third. rattatouille was very decent too. Think I'm going to go for Zodiac

We did indeed show it Tice We acquired an HD copy (still have it on the server actually lol) and it looked abseloutely amazing in our main screen! I guess when you take into consideration what you said about it being a new cut of an old film ( it also included some extra footage too) then it could be classed as a new 2007 release.

Thanks, I really thought that film should have won best foreign language film at the awards last year too it was visually stunning and really detailed in terms of recreating various looks.
