"At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A of 421 Broome Street in SoHo for an appointment with Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Ledger unresponsive. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills near his body."

Quite a shock I must say, he was one of my favourite actors. Really looking forward to seeing him in the Dark Night too. Shame he won't be there to see the final product  RIP.

In total and utter shock. I thought he was quite a talented actor and his role as the Joker looked to really confirm his place as a quality actor. Such sad, sad news. I honestly hope it's not a counscious decision to overdose as I really don;t want his image sullied in such a way.

I was at work and my boss had the radio playing in his headphones. Said something about Heath being found to have taken pils but o death was confirmed. Got home to find this out.
I cant believe it.
Utter shock. Although for me his image is not tainted. I still can not wait for the Dark Knight, probably more now because I want to see a fantastic performance from this man to pay homage.

what a tragic and sad loss... our newspapers are plastered with coverage of amy winehouse killing herself with drugs,and now this.
heath ledger had done some great parts in okay films,and of course is due to portray the joker,a role which was to have assured him iconic status,what a terrible shame that status is now his for all the wrong reasons.
what a terrible shame,he was a great actor.

He was also in the middle of making a film with Terry Gilliam called The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. I'm really, really gutted about all of this.
Agree with you Rob, regardless of how he died I don't think that can taint the far too short life he's led.

When I first read this I thought it was a bad taste viral marketing ploy by Warner Bros.
You know the kind of thing, read article about Heath dying, then at the bottom there's a picture of the Joker holding
up a sign saying "Why so serious?".
I'm still waiting for someone to come out and say this is all just a mistake. This is ****** up and the worst kind of news you can hear.
But having worked in the drug addiction field for 7 years, you see all sorts of people become addicted to substances. Substances that destroy their lives and those around them.
It's not just the pill poppin and coke snorting 18 year old chav that overdoses.
I've seen University Professors reduced to sleeping in stair wells in clothes covered in his own feces with nothing more than a tin of corned beef to his name.
Sadly actors are not superhuman. For ever Clint Eastwood, there's a River Phoenix. For every Sean Connery, there's a James Dean.
Really don't know what else to say?
