Went to see this tonight after months of looking forward to it since that pre-Transformers teaser trailer. Did it live up to the hype? The answer is Yes. Loved every minute of it as it's so creepy and teasing, you really dont know what's going on at all, which is a very powerful effect on the audience in such a film. It all makes for a very grim, apocalyptic movie, similar to Speilberg's War of the Worlds in that you're only seeing what the characters see. Incendently, I love that film too.

As for the much hyped Monster in this movie, he's brilliantly done and moves in an almost "haunting" way. The fleeting glimpses leave you wanting more, which you do get towards the end. He's meaner, and better, than Godzilla for sure and you won't be left feeling sorry for him this time around when the army is raining all hell down on him!

Overall, this is the best film i've seen at the cinema in quite some time and there's gonna have to be something very good to beat it this year. I'm already hoping for a sequel just to explain things and let us know what happened!

One disadvantage of my job is when you clean and monitor a film about 6 times in a day and see the same parts over and over, they start to lose their appeal.

This has happened with Cloverfield. But I may still see it.

I saw it on Saturday and it was Brilliant I was blown away by the movie. I like the beginning it settles you in and makes you sit back and relax then the **** hits the fan and then your off on a great ride, I’d like to see it again but time is an issue because the next three weekends there is several movies out first National Treasure is out then Jumper and then Rambo so hopefully I might see it again after that.

I felt fine during and after the movie but people have been sick because of the movie, if you get sick easy then you might have a problem.

I have really bad motion sickness (even if I take tablets I'm still sick on a boat) and hardly felt sick.

Saw an awful lot of people demanding refunds because they felt ill part way through the movie, but I don't think anyone was actually physically sick.

I don't see the trouble, it's hardly that different to The Blair Witch Project and that was fine. I know Cloverfield has a lot of strobe lighting in it and that affects some people. Even going to an IMAX film can cause your eyes to hurt.

Saw this with Tim yesterday, and have to say I did enjoy this even though it is just a monster movie tongue

Did anyone noticed something slashing into the water at the end of the film when it cuts back to Coney Island?

Wait there just a minute, we need to clear this up. You are talking about what was Toho have officially named Zilla aren't you? By that I mean Fraudzilla, the monster that appears in the 1998 American Godzilla film. If you are talking about that creature, then you are correct, but if you are trying to tell me that Godzilla, Gojira, then you are just mistaken. The only creature that could possibly hope to be anything up to him is King Ghidorah.

Right on to the film. I have been waiting since the trailer first appeared on the net, as I do love my giant monsters. The prospect of been involved in the action from the point of view of one group of people did intrigue me but it also scared me as I thought it would try to focus so much on the human characters and the drama of the situation. I feel they got the balance perfect, enough of the monster enough of the human side. Been inside such devastation was brilliant and terrifying. Of course, the main problem with the film would be the impulse to constantly think "put the camera down you stupid pissant and run!" and yes, that came about. The monster was brilliant, much better then I expected and as GG1 says, he was pretty damn mean. I enjoyed the fact that it didn't go into trying to offer any explanations, just some random mumblings about what it could be.

Overall a very impressive film that I love with all my heart!

The 98 movie was bad, but Zilla itself looked good.

But the Cloverfield creature is not better then orginal Godzilla, it only fights the US army, Gojira fights Mothra and many others.

I enjoyed the film, although I think it was difficult to focus on at times. Watching the screen when they were running with the camera was tricky, but otherwise it worked well. IMO it worked better then The Blair Witch Project, in which not a lot actually happens

The creature itself is a fine looking creation, most impressed with it I was.
