For those who are with the either two have you had a very weak connection lately?

I'm with talk talk and I understand that they buy their internet supply from AOL so I would guess that if one fails the other dose as well.

Recently I've noticed using speed test that I've been getting a very weak connection, I've check around the house to see if anybody else is using the internet but I'm the only one using it. I don't know exactly what amount we've been provided with but I know it's enough to keep 2 computers and a xbox running smoothly tongue (these problem have occurred before but not as frequent as now)

Any ideas on what I should do? :P

I'm on AOL dialup and I've been having a lot of disconnections over the last few weeks. They recently starting migrating everyone to the Car Phone Warehouse servers and that has caused the problems. I know I've seen a losts of posts on their help forums about slow broadband speeds and other issues. If you're able to view them you can read the posts here. The main forums to check are the General, Error, and Connections ones.

It's cheap. And since I am currently jobhunting cheap is good.

I'm pretty sure that the AOL switch is your problem if your broadband is via them. If you really want to make sure I'd give the TalkTalk help line a call and ask if that's the case. The problems started for me around Jan 20 as they pushed out new connectivity software for dialup and broadband. The first day I couldn't get online at all and I ended up at the local library to use a PC there. Prior to this week I'd get at least one disconnection per online session and sometimes many more. This week hasn't been too bad though last night was and after quite a few disconnections I gave up for the night. Today has been OK so far.

I've had seriously slow stuff lately, but I put it down to having a new computer running on Vista, with all the annoying UAC stuff and such. If it's AOL though, it wouldn't surprise me. Been trying to get rid of them for years, but they won't cut the damn thing tongue

I'm with TalkTalk and haven't had any problems recently, nor any problems full stop and I've been with them from the start. I am using a Mac though, but doubt that would make any difference.

Are you using a wireless router??

LAJ, are you on a monthly fee for dial-up?? I found dial-up is just as expensive as Broadband but you get a heck of a lot more with broadband. You're mad for still having dial-up, lol. Seriously, look into it because you wont regret it.
