How is The Bourne Ultimatum a British film? Actually, the only one out of that lot (other than Control, which I can't comment on as I've not seen it) that is This is England. Glad that won it as a. It's British and b. the guys accepting the awards are great.

Well Eastern Promises was made and produced pretty much entirely in England, so I would suppose it counts.

Ok, so Eastern Promises gets a bye, but still, The Bourne Ultimatum for God's sake!

It's a technicality of the rules which allow the Bourne Ultimatum to be nominated under best British film because it had a British crew and for the most part was filmed in the UK.
I don't agree with it either though, but am pleased This is England won as it deserves the recognition. Then again how many people put that in there top three films of the 2007???? Two, including me.

Daniel Radcliffe is quite amusing, and looks highly nervous as well. This prop guy has worked on some of my favourite films. And also Titanic.
But oh man Orlando Bloom's face was just heart breaking after the section about people who have died at the last year with Heath Ledger at the end.

Well, The British Academy honours both foreign and British film, just as the Oscars honours American & foreign film (or so it likes to pretend).
A French film was up for best picture and a foreign actress won a BAFTA.
On another note - Anthony Hopkins = Legend

Sorry, I didn't clarify myself in the OP very well did I? I was specifically talking about the award for best British film. Got no problem whatsoever with foreign films winning awards, just confused me seeing as how TBU is a massive Hollywood blockbuster. I'd have thought that Best British Film would be more about smaller, British made, British financed and British studio type films.

Also, am I the only one who doesn't think Daniel Day-Lewis is all that? I'm not saying he's a bad actor, he's brilliant at stepping comepletely into a role, I'm just saying that nobody else has a chance it seems when he's been nominated.

Nearly everyone who should of won did. Pleased with the awards this year, Helen Mirren didnt win everything (Or anything lol)
Yes, I also believe DDL is slightly over-rated. Yes he is good, and I will be seeing 'There will be blood' if I can, but he just dosnt get me excited or inspire awe like other actors *Cough* Javier Bardem *Cough* do.
Viggo should of won best actor, Easter Promises was A-MAY-ZING!!!
And No Country For Old Men should of got best film. Atonement seemed to be 'The Queen' of this year (Everyone jumping on the band wagon of how awesome it is when other, more under the radar films were better) Although it was probably better than the queen anyway lol
Ahwell, as long as No country won lots I didnt mind lol

Atonement really failed though, it won only 2 awards out of 14 nominations.
I like Daniel Day-Lewis, but yes he does get over hyped. But so does Keira Knightly, she's no big-shot great actress either.
Best British Film was won by This is England anyway, so I don't see what the fuss is about.
I know nominations are odd (I recall in the 2003 Oscars AOTC wasn't even nominated for best Special Effects ), but some things are nominated just to keep people happy whne they are never actually going to win.

I hear this too. But haven't had a chance to see it yet.
Although his beard last night looked a tad odd. He was nominated for the Oscar, but as Day-Lewis got both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA I seriously doubt we're gonna get any pleasent suprises.

The Oscars tend to be given either to someone the academy has overlooked for ages (like Scorsese last year), or to the actor in the film most people have seen or the one they like most.
