I missed it but it was up on iPlayer at least 10 minutes after it ended, if not before. I'll be watching it tomorrow.

I didn't think it was too bad. I liked it more than I did Robin Hood. I'll probably watch it again next week.

Depending on how Uni works out I'll most likely watch it next week. It was fun, light saturday evening entertainment.

It wasn't bad, I suppose it will take time to build up. Anthony Head was good, as was Richard Wilson. John Hurt was good as the dragon.

Eve Myles made a decent villain.

I didn't care much for Arthur, I don't think he was ever a stuck-up spoilt brat, but I suppose it makes it harder for Merlin to change him.

While we're at it Camelot wasn't around when Arthur had barely finished puberty, Guinevere wasn't coloured and Merlin and Arthur weren't the same age.

Thought it was pretty alright. Could have been much worse. For one thing thought that Eve Myles' witch would be found out and destroyed because of the whole reflection thing (which I thought was a nice touch) so nice that it wasn't 100% predictable.

Merlin is not very bright though, picking a fight with the prince twice and the second time knowing full well that he is the prince.

Well, I suppose someone's got to put Arthur in his place - obnoxious little *cough* tongue

All in all, I thought it was quite fun, and Eve Myles' witch had me going for the cushions at one point... Anyone else find her humming a little reminiscent of 'Nothing's gonna harm you...' from Sweeney Todd? worried

Just watched it on the BBC Iplayer...I was quite surprised!

Was good, kept me entertained and I'll be watching it next week happy

It helps if you put the 'Other' Arthur lore beside and take it as some light entertainment...

Just seen today's episode on iPlayer, and I have a few gripes.

Firstly, Knight Valiant? As in one of the knights of the round table? If he's on the round table he shouldn't be much different in age to Arthur, he also shouldn't end up dead.
The fireplace was bricked up with red bricks, because they really had red bricks back then.
The dog didn't look like the statue, and the shield disappeared.

Was entertaining though, and I liked it, especially the fighting. happy

I enjoyed this episode a lot more, it was an improvement. The fighting tournament was excellent and the cast seemed to interact much better.

I thought it was pretty good as well. I've read the writeup for next week's show and it sounds good also.

The iPlayer is failing on me, it won't let me download Merlin. I get the download link but it keeps breaking when I try to download it. sad

Edit: sod's law, it works just as soon as I post this. plain

With regards to Moose's spoilers... Yes - the whole series is highly inaccurate in places, but if you just want to switch your brain off for 45 minutes, then I still say it's pretty good.

Anyone else find it amusing that they rather blatantly re-use the same footage of the dragon each week (apart from when he's speaking, but the shot is still the same even then)? Good way to save on SFX budget, Beeb... Still, it was rather nice to have a guy in a suit this week grin

The BBC have a pretty small SFX budget unfortunately, but The Mill still manages to create decent stuff. I liked the mud monster thing this week.
