If you're attending CIV this year, I've been researching the bus option. Greyhound from Vancouver, BC to L.A. is approx $198 Canadian round-trip if your ticket is purchased 7 days in advance. Add $36 Cdn if you PCL from downtown Victoria to downtown Vancouver (you can catch the bus on the ferry for less: approx $13 ea way). That's a savings of approximately $300, and takes only 1 day 6 hrs each way. That's what I'm going to do. Best airfare I could get was almost $500 before taxes and going overnight through Calgary!
I'll be heading over to Vancouver at the end of March to purchase my ticket. If anyone is interested in going that route, but can't get over to Vancouver, get in touch with me through my personal e-mail and I'll be more than willing to take your cash with me to buy your ticket. There's a companion fare that makes it even less if two are travelling together.
