It is with great reluctance that I have agreed to this calling. I love democracy.. I love the galactic senate. The powers you give me I will lay down when this crisis has...
Oops, to early for that speech. Well, here it is...
To date we have $30 and 10 members have contributed. After each meeting I will be updating this. I will also update it anytime that money has been spent with a brief description of why the money was spent.

To date, As of yesterday's meeting we now have a balnce of $51 in the treasury.
Total donations $56
Total costs $5
Mr. CR and Madam Vice will receive a full detailed report in a couple of days.

Now it's time for a quick recap of our discussion about group funds and the possibility of buying an occasional lottery ticket or two.
I had planned random quick picks but a couple of numbers were recommended that we should discuss further. First of all, since I don't want to make it seem like we are gambling away our funds we will only buy a ticket when the jackpot exceeds $100 million.
The only two lotteries that typically reach this hieght are the Powerball and the Mega Millions which is currently at $90 million.
Please post your thoughts/suggestions here.

I am strongly leaning toward the random ticket. For both loteries that I have in mind it is 5 regular numbers with 1 special one. It would get to complicated with people arguing over which number should be the powerball and so forth if we pick the numbers.

Cool, for the record, any winnings less than $1,000 will be put into the treasury. In the unlikely event that we hit it big it will be split based upon contributions made so far. Obviously the big winners will be our memebrs who are married to other members. To date we have had $56 contibuted, I have contributed $5 of that so I would get less than 9%. Though we haven't heard from Hector in a while I'm sure he would show up for his 3/56 of $120 million if we won a jackpot. I keep track of every dollar contributed and any winnings would be dispersed fairly but not necessarily evenly.

So because I'm joining late, I would get the short end of the stick, so to speak? And is the money contributed for the lottery directly from the dues collected at each event?
Also I had the idea that no matter how big the pot is, some should go back to the Treasury. So in the unlikely event that we hit $120M, at least $1M should go into the treasury and then divide the rest. I'll agree that a winning ticket of less than $1,000 should go directly to the treasury. We can buy a lot of pizzas at the next party for $500!!!

Well, yes, that is the nature of the beast. However, the way to avoid that scenario you mentioned is quiet simple. If you donated $5 extra at the next meeting then you would receive the same amount I would. It's really up to you to decide whether it is worth it or not. When the money is collected is irrelevant unless someone thinks they can suddenly throw in $10 and walk away with 6 mil AFTER the ticket has been bought.
If we were to ever end up hitting it big then we would all sit down and discuss how much to put into the pot. But there is only about a 1 in 130 million chance that this conversation will ever need to take place so there is no point in us going through all that at the moment.

Its something exciting to think about, but we shouldn't worry about the little details as we're not going to win.

As for the win to Treasury relationship.............I doubt I'll be that fussed at winning $2million compared to $2.1 million
