Depends on the poster. I felt like a midbie after a month, but some take years to get comfy.

Yeah, that did make sense, goodfellas.
I don't really see the point in asking/being worried over what status you have here. If you're having fun, while following the ToS, and feel comfortable here.. then you have nothing to be concerned about. I don't care about what the registration is of people. That's just unfair judgement, and so is relying on post counts. I've seen some newbies here that post more responsibly than many midbies/oldbies.
People have days where they come online and post a little stupidly, or angrily.. then other days they'll be pleasant and responsible.. therefor make good posts. It's happened to me many times.. we are all capable of being an oldbie someday (I hope), and worrying when it will apply to you is really a waste of time and will only bring your mood down.

Sorry, lol, no offense meant. You're perfectly right of course, we can't operate any kind of a caste system inside TF.N.
Just that the word "lecture" gave me a bad feeling in my stomach

I am definitely comfortable posting here on my own now (*elbows her adopter, Ewok15* *cough, cough* ), but I'm not out of newbie status yet.

You are out of your newbie status, when you feel that you are out of your newbie status.

I say once you pass a year and have 5 stars you are a midbee. When you have the BIG star and you are 3-5 years old you might be a oldbie. BTW, how many posts do you have to have to get the BIG star?
I'm just a newb tho...

Newbie/Oldbie is not so much a time, as it is a state of mind. You could be posting for years and if you don't contribute then you are still a newbie. Some one who has not been here but four or five months could be further along than the other person.

Does it depend on post count? How many posts do I have to make per day to be considered a regular?

I think if you don't post at least a few times a month, you're still considered a newbie even if you've been here since 98'

Depends who you are talking with...If'm I'm talking with someone who has been around since 99, then I'm more of a midbie, but if I'm posting in here with two years under my belt, then I'd say I'm an oldbie

Well, there is also the case where people like me come in. DOn't know how many people do this, but in my case, registered a long time ago (by which I mean the late 90's) and then things happened and i didn't have as much time to go to the boards. Changed emails, decided to come back and had to get a new name. Drifted away again, etc. This is now the third or fourth time life has allowed me to pursue this, so I have been watching/around a whole lot longer than the register date would indicate.
Of course, I am still pretty much a newbie because I never got THAT into it, but the people here are still really cool. That's why I come back.
