Okay, I am SO overreacting considering it's only the first lesson. But seriously, if this doesn't get any harder I am throwing the book out the window. My brain will melt otherwise.
My sister (who used this curriculum for Pre-Algebra) said that the examples (Katie the cat lover) get better and better. Oh the joy.
