who wants to let me hunt down their sock, (or start with their sock and hunt down their really User name  ) 'course, you have to leave me clues. and I won't spread it around when I figure it out.
BTW, how do you let the mods know you have a sock [face_cofused]

I hate to look like a total n00b. In the context of this thread what is a Sock? I know I have long stripy ones, and a pair in a startling shade of blue argyll, (My Stripy Pirate socks are my faves though).

A sock often has a different personality traits than that of the user's and they can be annoying to no end!
Some people act really... What's a nice way of putting it?

I think it's a waste of time.
It doesn't amuse anbody and it confuses people, especially us newbs...
Not all are like that, of course. But I'm not a huge fan from my experience.

Let me enlighten you. According to the JCC Glossary, a sock is any further username aside of the first one of an registered user. Therefore, if you can login to the JC using another name, that name would be your sock. They are also known as sockpuppets.
I hope you have enjoyed learning about socks. 
EDIT: Not all socks are bad. Some are used poorly, like to flame another user, but some are priceless. Norse Wars II was a good example of some oldbies registering crazy socks and creating one of the most memorable threads on the JC. Some users have Christmas socks... AcklayComeHome has a sock for posting in December named GrinchComeHome. Some are bad, but some are good, too. Using socks is a skill to be learned carefully!
