OMG she is The Stig! Of course!

"Some say...she uses hallucinogenic lipstick... and that she once wrote "Hello Sweetie" on the Universe's oldest cliff-face (made of pure diamond)... but all we know is, she's called The Stig." :p

    ... who's The Stig?
  3. Chewgumma Jedi Grand Master

A method of selling a show about three loud, middle aged gits driving cars. :p
  4. I-am-the-Walrus Jedi Master

I wouldn't say it's bad...of course, I watched 5 episodes of Top Gear before I went to sleep last night, so I might be a bit biased.:p
    Yes!=D=:D

    Madame Vastra returns?? :D :D :D [face_dancing][face_dancing][face_dancing]

I still think she should have her own spin-off show. At least one series.
  10. Chewgumma Jedi Grand Master

Erm... a lesbian is shaking the show up at this point? We've already had gay anglican marines, a man fired from the CIA for wanting to marry another man and the randiest bisexual to ever grace the face of television. And that's without trying to think of every minor gay couple in the RTD era.

Seeing as this is from the Daily Star, who credits an unnamed source for the story, I'm going to mark this as potential bull.

This thread has become so impossible for me to follow :p

No, no, no, get it right. Jack wasn't bisexual, he was omnisexual, as in sleep with anything sentient and with a pulse. And to date the only male to kiss the Doctor full on the lips. :p(WHY COULDN'T HE HAVE HAD AGOOD BYE KISS WITH TEN IN EOT!!!???)

Yeah, probably a bunch of bull, but I do hope there's a little grain of truth to it.
I would love to see Jenny and Madame Vastra make a return appearance.
  13. Everton Jedi Grand Master

It would be nice, but if it were to happen it would probably be as a children's show, like TSJA. And you know, as much as I hate to say it, there's is room for a new NuWho children's series...
  14. Chewgumma Jedi Grand Master

I don't think there is any doubt about it. I'm willing to bet the BBC are looking for a new spin off somewhere down the line now that Sarah Jane is over and Torchwood is pretty much dead in the water.
  15. Jon Bon Buren Jedi Master

Madam Vastra is so improbable that the idea of a show being any good doesn't seem very likely. And then, what's it to be? A Sherlock-esque crime procedural/action-adventure in Victorian London? I'm sure the kids will be all over that. It's really cool that she exists, but I would never buy that she can just run around the city out in the open solving crime. It doesn't make any sense.

Sure, I'd love for her to pop up now and again, but a spin-off, especially one aimed at kids? To me that has failure written all over it.
  16. Chewgumma Jedi Grand Master

The kids were all over a recent BBC production about an adolescent Leonardo Da Vinci.

With that in mind I don't think the concept of children following a crime drama about a katana wielding Silurian is such a far fetched idea.
  17. Jon Bon Buren Jedi Master

Crime drama does well with children?

Even so, personally, Madam Vastra is not a commodity that I would like to see a lot more of. tidbits, here and there, but otherwise, it's just really absurd.
  18. Chewgumma Jedi Grand Master

If they can follow a drama about a child renaissance artist then I don't see why a more action based attempt at making a crime drama would flop. It doesn't exactly have to be a complex thing when the main characters would be running around with swords. And the Doctor Who link would be enough to get tons of kids tuning in.
  19. Jon Bon Buren Jedi Master

It has nothing to do with complexity, I just don't know that many kids who watch Law & Order. Besides, from the stuff I saw--thinking that a show about Leonardo might be interesting I checked out some clips--there's nothing at all complex about that show. Just because you add the descriptors renaissance and artist doesn't make it any different than any other kid drama about kid stuff.

Now, I mean, if you're looking for Encyclopedia Brown in the Victorian era with lesbians, lizards, and longswords, I guess that's fine. But it's not really something I would be interested in at all, because it sounds like a total disaster.
  20. Chewgumma Jedi Grand Master

I never said it was a complex show. What I'm saying is that if kids can follow an adventure show about renaissance artists then I don't see how they wouldn't follow a show that is related to Doctor Who and is about 2 katana wielding victorian detectives. Just as adding renaissance and artist in the description of a kids show needn't make it any more complicated, neither does crime, mystery or victorian.
