    :_| I know!

It sucks so hard... I can just about pay my bills and that's it. I badly need a haircut, I badly need new clothes, and I just can't afford anything. I'm sending out job applications all the time, and I get nothing but rejections. I can't even land a **** temp job or barkeeper job or anything. It's really discouraging. My degree is worthless. I should have gone with where the money was.

It's a shooter with role playing elements to be honest. It has lengthy talking sequences and a levelling up screen, but at it's core Mass Effect is a shooter. Some people would argue against this by saying "ooh the story, it's got a story" but more and more games with a strong focus on story have been produced ever since 3D modelling came to light, and the story in Mass Effect has a tendency to lose focus and go off on a tangent, possibly due to the way that you can approach the order of missions any way you like. The lack of focus in the over arching plot is mostly noticeable in Mass Effect 2 where the main villains of the saga pretty much go unnoticed throughout the entire game except for the very ending.

If you don't like shooters you won't like Mass Effect.

Well, you said it's RP with an epic story. That doesn't really answer the question..

You know, I should probably stop asking questions. I'm just noobing up the conversation. lol

I edited my post and added more stuff in though. I always do that. :p

Just ask. What do you want to know?

The story/RPG is the most important, but instead of turn-based combat like in KotOR, for example, it's a real-time tactical shooter. Apart from just using weapons you can also use 'Biotics' which are very much like Force powers. I won't deny it's got strong shooter elements. But it would hurt the truth to just pass of ME as 'just another shooter'. The gameplay is fantastic in ME2, and even better in ME3.

Mass Effect is noted as an "action RPG".

I don't much like shooters, but I love Mass Effect. I don't care much for the combat in the Mass Effect series, I'm in it for the Mass Effect universe.

The only shooter I've liked is Metroid Prime. And even that gave me headaches.. Still, a good story is a plus.

And good voice acting. Having Seth Green and Keith David, among others, in your video game is definitely a major boon.

Well, it has a third person perspective and it's not really fast moving quick twitch stuff.

I know, I know. I've been back at it for a few days but I feel like I've already ruined the experience for myself. I finished ME2 in two weeks playing it every day. Mass Effect is my favorite game franchise (maybe tied with AC) I guess I just got bored with doing nonstop sidequests and scanning because I was worried I'd lose them.

Also, except for KotOR, Mass Effect has a way more focused story than any other RPG I've played. Like Skyrim.

@Coric, that is a crime against human rights. Dogspeed at finding a job and be here whenever you can.

You were playing it every day and it took you two weeks? I can finish a completionist run on ME2 in four days.

I only played for an hour a day. [face_laugh]

But yeah I did my complete fourth run (with DLC) a few months ago preparing for ME3 in about four-five days.

Speaking of Mass Effect, I got my copy of ME3 today, I'll hopefully get an hour in, at least. Also, I guess you guys REALLY don't like ponies, man, I guess I'll need to come up with a pony pic you guys would actually like.
