Your bias is showing. Satine wasn't created to take Padme's place, she was created to highlight how Kenobi handles attachments compared to Anakin.
I like Satine a lot, but I think there is no need for Obi Wan to have another lover since he got Siri.
1. It can be better. 2. He was a very very powerful Sith Lord, more powerful than most of the Jedi and he got part of his master's work. 3. Dooku was Qui Gon Jinn's master before he left the Jedi order. One of the most important reasons he left the Order was his padawan's death.
1. It is already good enough. He fails to save his mother in episode II and vows to be stronger enough to save the ones he loves. There is absolute no reason to repeat this with Satine, whom he has no relationship with what so ever. 2. So what? Anakin wants the power to stop death, Palpatine can't provide it. 3. Again, so what? Dooku is a Sith Lord and it doesn't make sense for him to heal a women he has literally no relationship for.
1. But the part of he realized the Jedi way is wrong, and the Dark Side could save him, is not good enough adn can be done better. 2. At that time, the Dark Side could show to be more convincing, even if Dooku wasn't able to save people from death, his master might have, in Anakin's eyes, it will be much more convincing. 3. Like I said, to show Anakin the power of the Dark Side and lure him, also he might still like his padawan.
1. It is fine as it is. Palpatine's story of Plagueis is one of the best scenes in the saga. On top of that it makes no sense for Anakin to believe the dark side can help save people prior to ROTS. 2. Again, this is irrelevant since it makes no sense for Anakin to think this way prior to ROTS. And it is also out of character for Dooku to try to save anyone, especially someone like Satine whom he has no prior relationship with. 3. Again, this makes no sense on many fronts. Anakin has already seen the power of the dark side from several acts by Dooku(Hell, he lost his arm and got fried by him in Episode II), second he hates Dooku, so it would be out of character for him to be in awe of his power. No offense, but your ideas sound like fan-fiction and none of them logically make sense giving how the PT turns out.
1. I also like that scene a lot, but the acting and the lines, but it's just words and not enough to convince Anakin, also it's weird that Anakin didn't suspect why would Palpatine know such story. If he saw the power of the Dark Side and asked Palpatine to gather info for him, it will be a lot more logical. 2. Like I said, it will be more convincing since Anakin didn't really see any real power show but was willing to betray everyone to help Palpatine. Dooku once was a great Jedi and it's totally logical if he still like Qui Gon Jinn, also he could use it to lure Anakin. 3. But he didn't see the power of the Dark Side could save his people, that was what he most wanted. It's ok, I know it's hard to accept mostly the relationship.
1. It is more then enough. Anakin is a desperate man at this point, who is hell bent on finding a way to save his wife. And Palpatine knowing this tale is not strange since it can be taking as "just a myth." Anakin asking Palpatine to look up information on the Dark Side makes no sense, since at this point Anakin has no idea who Palpatine truly is. 2. There is no reason to show this "power" since it doesn't exist. Skywalker wants the power to cheat death and save his wife, Palpatine doesn't have the power and makes that very clear when Skywalker becomes Vader. 3. Dooku, Palpatine etc. don't have the power so there is nothing to show.
1. Real power will be much more convincing, he was desperate, but he shouldn't be stupid to betray every one just for a few words. But none of the others(even the non Jedi) told him a bit of it, he went across so many planets during the war but nobody even heard of Plagueis. how could Palpatine, a man from Naboo know it since the Sith had disappeared from people's sight for 1000 years? He knew Palpatine was his friend, and he got enough men under his command to gather information for him. 2. Actually we aren't clear how much power he got, he wasn't close to his master, he couldn't bring back the dead, but could he have more powerful healing skill than the Jedi? Entirely possible. Like I stated, cheat death is bring back the dead, and Plagueis showed it before Sidious over and over again.
I think the right word would be 'hypocritical', and no, I don't think I am. I'm merely expressing what I think will happen in the end, if Lucas Arts decide to tackle that issue at all. I like the way Obi-Wan's relationship with Satine is portrayed, myself. He was young when it happened, and even then, he was too much of a Jedi to go against the Jedi Code : it would have been the Jedi Order or Satine, not both. Absolutely not both, like what Anakin tried to do. I believe you missed the memo : the relationship between Obi-Wan and Satine ended when his mission on Mandalore was finished. It could have been different, had Satine not underestimated Obi-Wan's love or overestimated his desire to remain with the Jedi, but as it is now, their relationship stopped fifteen years ago. What makes you think that Maul will still obey his former master? The trailer to the next season of the show seems to indicate that Maul won't serve anyone ever again.
I know I said I was walking away from this thread but I just had to respond to this. People do stupid things just by being told a few things. It happens in real life all the time. Palpatine A.K.A Darth Sidious was Plagueis apprentice. Of course he knew the story since he is the apprentice who killed Plagueis in the first place. Anakin, at this point in the film, isn't using his head so he doesn't question why Palpatine, of all people, would know it. When you trust someone implicitly and has looked out for you since you were a small boy, you don't question them, because you don't think and he has his worries over his visions to think about. Palpatine gives him a solution to consider. Palpatine was gearing up to reveal himself to Anakin, he knew the war he was orchestrator of was about to end. Palpatine took a gamble and relied on Anakin's complete trust in him to not understand the significance of what he was saying until later on when he came out with it there and then. Anakin never told him that Padme was going to die in childbirth but he knew of Anakin's visions. Don't you think it is strange that Palpatine would know of Padme's impending death without even being told about it? Or are you saying he must have implanted spies in Anakin's brain that is telling him all this?
Satine didn't think so, she didn't develop any relationship after she met Obi Wan. You can see Maul was still in great fear of master, credited his master as "The most powerful being in the galaxy", and torture Anakin is not something he would against.
Yes but Anakin didn't know Palpatine's real identity at that time. Why would a Naboo noble know a Sith legend? Isn't it strange? Later in the movie, Anakin figured out Palpatine is the Sith Lord when he continued his idea of the Force, so he's not that stupid and totally trust Palpatine, why not make him smarter and the story more logical? It's Palpatine's plan, I never denied it. But his plan still looked vague in the movie since there was no any real proof, just words, won't it be much better if the power was shown before Anakin? It would make his plan better and Anakin not being stupid.
(1) I'm not a specialist, not even an amateur, but how does that indicate that the relationship wasn't over? Maybe that Satine never managed to get over Obi-Wan, but even if that is true, it does not mean that they didn't both agree to end the relationship. (2) He calls him that, that is true, but the quote from the trailer remains : Darth Maul says the he 'serves no one'. Admitting that his master is the most powerful being in the galaxy just means that he knows that his master will be big threat to his plans.
That's what I thought at first... But if that were the only reason, why maker a politician in the first place? Further more, Satine has been put into a position that Padmè could have filled in accordance to which she went through in AOTC as this video clearly shows instead of being Papatine's fan girl: It really irritates me that a new female character was given a stronger more prominent story line than the story line of the woman who affects the Saga. Padmè dosen't even a decent epsode with her husband....Satine/Ow rolls all over TCW A/P. Fair enough. I just fail to see how giving Satine feelings for Anakin would make for better story line and you fail to make sense explaining it to me.
Since Satine thought it's not good to have relationship with others since she got feelings of Obi Wan? But how would she react when she knows Obi Wan got those romance? Also, their relationship is going no where. He surely wasn't, and won't dare to speak such thing before his master unless he wanted some powerful Force Choke. If his master communicate with him, he would still be powerless to disobey. What do you need me to explain further?
Satine is intended to be as close as possible to Padme in order to further the comparison between Anakin's and Obi-Wan's ways of handling attachment. Both Padme and Satine are politicians, both met 'their' Jedi when he was assigned to their protection, etc. Perhaps the biggest difference is that while Anakin is clearly the one who 'benefits' the most from Padme's help and love, Satine was probably the one who could have used most the presence of her love at her side after the end of their civil war.
Agreed @Sannom. But I feel Satine overshadows Padmè because she holds the attributes Padmè held in the PT and is lacking in TCW...the only difference is that Padmè would never have given in The Academy as in TPM when she decides to return to Naboo.
I agree that Padmé could certainly do with the kind of awesome that Satine displayed in the episode Duchess of Mandalore, but I'm not sure that even Palpatine would dare push her to those extremities when he still wants a somewhat docile Senate.
There's no need for that...If Palpatine told TCW Padmè to jump of a bridge, no doubt in my mind she would!
