In KOTOR 1 and 2 I always favored Jedi over ranged/soldier characters because, well, they're frikking Jedi, only using the other chracters when I had no choice or the quest/mission dictated it. So naturally, in KOTOR 1 I favored Bastila, Juhani and Jolee. In KOTOR 2 it was Visas, Handmaiden and Jedi'd Atton.
Yeah, the Jedi are just more powerful than the other characters. Most of the characters can hold their own just fine, but lightsabers are pretty much the most powerful weapons in the game the moment you get them and remain so to the end (some of the blasters from Yavin IV were good), and the Force can heal the entire party with ease and work as crowd control. I usually use the characters Invidious mentioned, but the game is so easy I often swap someone else in just for variety. It helps that you can change your party instantaneously throughout much of the game.
It's been awhile since I've plauyed KotOR 1 and 2, but I have fond memories of them. I've played through 1 a couple of times, and 2 twice. I've never played Dark Side, and I've never played female Revan or male Exile, so there's plenty I can still do if I go back to it. I definitely like 1 more than 2, but that's partially because my copy of 2 seemed rather buggy in a lot of places. I play both of them on PC. I think my favorite part members to use in 1 were Carth, Bastila, Jolee, and Canderous, but I used everyone pretty regularly. I don't remember 2 as well, but I stuck to Atton and Kreia quite a bit, and Bao-Dur.
I did play duel-gun wielding in one game and the ease with which you dispatched villains was rather incredible; right up until the final showdown. That old evil woman would not yield to guns.
What I meant to ask was which one of the other characters did you have on your team most of the time, on Kotor I then Kotor II
Oh I rotate them a ton, Bastilla ends up in my group a good amount but I really use eveyrbody. The only ones in KOTOR I don't use much are Juhani and Big Z, eveyrbody else is in a rotation depending on where I am and what enemies I'm fighting.
Bought myself KOTOR through Steam. Time to relive a good SW game, even though is gonna take me awhile to get used to the whole keyboard+ mouse control scheme.
I didn't really like how they did the saber construction. It was a lot less intimate than I thought it would be. They always talk about how much skill and focus it takes to prove you can make your own saber, but you kinda just put the parts on the table and BAM, done.
yeah that was something that I would've liked to have seen more personnalized, but we can't have everything we want otherwise it wouldn't be lucasarts.
Oh I see in both games I use pretty much the same team all the way through. for Kotor I it's Mission, and Jolee. Until that is I have to use certain people, ie Jolee and Juhani for the temple. And Kotor II it's Bao-Dur, and Handmaiden if I'm male or Visas Marr if female. I get through most of the games fairly well like this. Fairly well rounded skill sets.
I think the biggest factor in determining my party in KOTOR is making sure I get all the quest triggers for them, like Carth's son, Mission's brother, etc. Likewise, the biggest factor in KOTOR2 is the opportunity to gain influence.
I've beaten KOTOR 1 like 4 times! it was awsome and i would do it a thousand more times. I also have KOTOR 2 but IT WONT WORK ON MY ORIGINAL XBOX! AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! RAGE!
