This episode did make a pretty strong case for Amon. In return for neutralizing known criminals, he has somehow been branded "public enemy number one." On a council dominated entirely by benders. They then proceed to lead a violent ambush raid on private citizens, even though, insofar as we know, chi blocking isn't even illegal, and no one was given a chance to surrender if it was. Is there any rule of law here, or do benders just get to do as they please? As for why he never took away Korra's bending, I don't think he had a reason to as of yet. If his goal is really a spiritual and religious challenge to the current system, it was never really about just beating someone up in a fight. He'll want to do things that maximize the public impact of his movement, and right now keeping the Avatar operational seems to agree with that.
What nonsense. The commies performed extrajudicial vigilante punishment (of an irreversible sort), and made clear their intentions to overthrow the lawfully constituted government of the city. The government, in turn, rightfully declared their organization an illegal one and commenced against against one of its cells. Given that they identified the location in advance and planned the operation under the council's sanction, it seems like it's perfectly legal given that there's no evidence of any modern warrant requirements.
Yes, as we all know, the committing of crimes by approximately five people is often used as a grounds to outlaw an entire political movement. Bender justice, everybody! Also, because I just saw this: No, it's definitely fake:
i thnk Amons a prety kewel gai. eh taeks bneding n dosent afraid of anything (last part is official).
Well, in that case someone took an awful lot of trouble drawing and colouring it, because it's NOT a simple copy&paste Photoshop job. Consider: Someone had to: 1. Draw it, while keeping in style of the show. Note that there are differences between Tenzin's and Aang's faces - the shape of the nose and ears, wrinkles and eyebrows, and obviously the mouth and beard. Yes, there are similarities - but that's because Aang is Tenzin's father, so duh. But the point is, it had to be drawn by hand, not just copied and pasted. 2. Colour it, again while keeping in style of the show. The shadows on both the mask and Aang's face are different than on those pics they were supposedly taken from. So, again, had to be done manually. Then there's the background - it's not that pic of the Republic City with the Pro-bending arena merely copied in - the light beams from the Arena are missing. And then there are these clouds rising from the City - as if it were burning... Plus there is the glowing effect from the setting sun - again, consistent with the style of the show. 3. Display it on a monitor and then take a picture of it. I dunno, but it seems a lot of work just for the sake of one fake picture... *shrug*
I guess. I dunno, the close resemblance to pre-existing photos, the sloppy filter effects, the inexplicable arabic subtitles... it just doesn't add up.
I find myself caring less about the present story, and more about what happened to Aang and the rest of the TLA bunch. Also 26 episodes seems so short considering the pacing of these episodes...makes me kinda anxious. I am enjoying the show, but it just makes me feel nostalgic for TLA.
The creators said there is still a possibility for more episodes - they said they're making the seasons more standalone (unlike A:TLA in which the three seasons made a single story arc), so if the show is successful and has good ratings, Nickelodeon might commission more episodes beyond the current 26 (they already added 14 more - the original TLOK had 12).
Nah we don't need more Korra. After Korra we'll jump ahead another 100 years or so and have some Earth bender avatar. Which will be ironic. Cuz they'll be in space.
All the male avatars seem goofy (Kuruk) or innocent (Aang) or too trusting (Roku). But all the female avatars as kick-ass warriors (Yangchen, Kyoshi, Korra). Reverse sexism! And the next fire-bender will probably know laser-bending!
They should totally learn to bend other elements... (Of all the nations, the armies of the ununoctium-benders are probably the least intimidating. The xenon-benders come close, but their flickery signs are at least effective for propaganda.)
Didn't catch the episode. And according to my TV listings, it won't show again until Friday. Well, I'm guessing it wasn't a big game-changer of an episode, judging from the preview of the next one. I'm already tired of pro-bending..
Apparently, no males are considered adult unless they have a beard Aang, Sokka, Tenzin, Hakoda, Ozai, Iroh. So any bets on how much facial hair Adult Zuko will have?
