I have a minor nitpick with what the expanded universe has done to Attack of the Clones; As we all know, Eeth Koth became Agen Kolar, Depa Billaba became Sar Labooda, and Adi Gallia became Stass Allie. Why? Well, the official explanation is that their appearances were slightly different, but can you imagine if they went back to the James Bond series and tried to rewrite his backstory so that he has like a dozen brothers for each actor? Plo Koon and Saesee Tiin had different actors, thankfully they didn't get the same treatment. Though if they appear for only a minimal time, and have the same outfits, I think the audience can make the connection... that is, if they even noticed. See, I thought it was cool that we got to see the solitary Jedi from the Phantom Menace in action on the battlefield. We already lost the puppeteered ones (though I think it's best that they didn't try to revive them with CGI). I think it's just kinda silly that those Jedi spontaneously disappeared, only for new Jedi, who look just like them, re-appear in their place. Thoughts?
Agen looks very different from Eeth to me, but I always assumed that the other two were Depa and Adi. At least Adi. I've never noticed Depa/Sar in AOTC or ROTS. Jedi Masters - they're different, yet the same /LM
Since Obsession is pretty much non-canon now, they might as well retcon Adi and Stass into being the same character. Those Jedi didn't disappear, though. Eeth is still alive, Depa fell into a coma inShatterpoint and Adi has appeared in many EU works.
That may be true, but originally, they just tried to scrap the old characters. Hence why Depa's in a coma. The most notable instance of this is how Eeth Koth was originally said to have died on a Republic Gunship in Attack of the Clones. That's just getting lazy, though thankfully, they brought him back. She's fighting on the side of the arena near the beginning, and later seen dead. And I haven't seen Adi in the film at all. And I admit, the skin tone difference between Agen Kolar and Eeth Koth is noticeable, but I still believe it would've been better if they remained one character, as it was intended. I mean, an extreme case of character inconsistancy is how Harvey Dent from Batman went from being played by Billy Dee Williams to Tommy Lee Jones between movies...
I'm cool with the addition of characters, background characters come and go. It doesn't really matter to me, but it would be disappointing to see characters like Agen Kolar and Sar Labooda get canned.
THe reason is that the actors that portrayed them in TPM weren't able to come back so new actors came in and played similar people.
I don't think its that big of a deal. There are a lot of Jedi in the galaxy some of them are bound to look alike
Like I said, it's not a big problem, since they're background characters to begin with. But that only begs the question why EU writers decided to do it in the first place.
