It was an odd opening for the Bums last night for this homestand/this series against Atlanta: In the 2nd & 4th innings, Loney & Uribe (2 of the worst hitters on the team) lead off with back-to-back hits... I couldn't believe my eyes. Uribe, though, was the Dodgers outstanding players in this game: 4-4, 3 RBI's. Capuano was decent, not good or great, but that's not surprising, as the Bums won 7-2. Poor Jurrjens though really stunk it up for Atlanta: 3 innings, 9 hits, 5 ER, 0 K's. Read a few moments ago that he's been sent down to the minors... ouch. Another "highlight" that standouts out: in the 5th inning, Kemp leads off with a single, and eventually reaches 3rd base. Either comes up, singles... Kemp tries to score, gets tagged out at home, and Ethier, almost deciding to run to 2nd before thinking better of it, gets tagged out before he can get back to 1st. Oye vey! This prompted Scully (and this would be reason #5556 why he is simply awesome) to proclaim that the "old Dodgers are back", that this play was "of the old Brooklyn bloodline of iffy play (paraphrasing)". Hehehehe. And this from last night in baseball. :

A buddy of mine who lives in San Jose went to the A's game last night with a bunch of his friends there... good grief, what a depressing sight. I realize Al Davis ruined this stadium back in the mid-90's, and the A's this season aren't bursting with positive expectations, but WTF is wrong with baseball fans in Oakland? Come on now, at least show up once in awhile. Pathetic.

2nd walk-off win in a row for the Cubbies! And against the Cards! =D=
  3. The Bums lost their first home game of the season last night, which obviously was bound to happen, but these following things annoyed me about the game: Chipper Jones solo home run (on his 40th birthday no less), Kemp's alleged "move" to 2nd base that got him called out in the 6th inning, Harang's wild pitch that allowed a run to score in top half of the 6th, Kemp misplaying a ball hit to him in the top of the 9th (with 2 outs) that allowed to Braves to score their eventual game winning run (ended winning 4-3), and some questionable swings at pitches by Uribe & Ethier in the bottom of the 9th.

    Ugh.

The Pirates need to learn how to not squander good pitching performances with anemic offense.

  5. MAJOR, MAJOR LANGUAGE WARNING!

Randomly found that on YouTube a few minutes ago... so ******* funny!.

At least they managed to take one from the Rockies today. Pedro Alvarez actually looked decent at the plate today, which is a frightening though. He hit two home runs and had some other strong ABs. I hope that he gets everything figured out now. His bat is sorely missed.

If I've ever argued that Met fans are smarter than other fans (I probably haven't but who knows), I officially retract. I was at tonight's game against the Marlins and when Giancarlo Stanton came up the guy behind me was saying "This is the new guy on the team. He wasn't there last year. It's a new guy." After the second inning he moved his seat. I felt smarter.

    Amazing.

  8. I greatly admired the fact that he stayed in the game, even though the Braves would proceed to take a 4-2 lead, which ended up being the final score of the game. If last night was to be Larry (Chipper) Jones last at bat ever at Dodger Stadium, it was effective: am RBI single. Of course, the homer the night before (it being his 40th birthday) is more memorable than last night's, in my humble opinion. The Bums aren't going to win every series this season (no team does, but the point has to be made), and I can tolerate losses like these to a good team, as opposed if the Dodgers had last as they did (the last two nights) to San Diego a couple of weeks ago.

B, I watched yesterday's comeback against the Marlins in the rain. Was a fun bottom of the ninth!

Also: can anyone explain to me the Delmon Young thing; not one thing about the report or the arrest makes sense to me...
  11. I just read a story about that moments ago on ESPN.com (mobile), so all I know is from that report.

did ... did you really just link to an article on moms.today.msnbc.com?

  13. Yes. :p I've got MSNBC.com as the start up page for my Google Chrome, and noticed the story... I wanted to mention it the other day (after I saw Keith Olbermann rage about it on Twitter), but forgot to.

I'm glad that Young's not with the Pirates any more. He's done a couple boneheaded things like that before.

Welp, I've seen it all. My Cubbies just beat Roy Halladay. The world truly is coming to an end this year...[face_skull]

I wasn't even going to bother watching the game tonight, cause I knew they were facing him. I checked out mlb.com and I found that they were up 3-1 in the 8th. I got to see the last 2 runs they tacked on in the 9th for the 5-1 win.

I've been on vacation for the past 2 weeks and haven't had the chance to bitch and moan about the Pirates to anyone. I took my son to his first baseball game while we where back home in Pittsburgh for vacation. Here are some pictures. It was pretty cold (low 50's) so naturally my son wanted to leave in the third inning after I just spent all this money on great seats.

Here is my son and I.

The view from our seats. I honestly never sat so close at a baseball game so it was a very cool day for me too.

My son was super pumped because he got to high five the Pirate Parrot.

Overall even with the weather and a Pirate loss we had a great time. We left after the bottom of the 7th it was just too cold and it started to rain. I didn't want little Terry getting sick. It was also $1 hot dog day so my wallet didn't take a huge hit so we let my parents take my son and lost some money at the casino across the street.

That's really cool, Rox. I really like the seats on the third base side. My parents are part of a season ticket plan, and it looks like your seats are pretty close to where their seats are.

We were in section 108 and row K.
