This was edited into my post on the: http://boards.theforce.net/xentemp/...-of-the-sith-was-the-only-prequel.1567/page-3

Everyone: Keep the thread civil. Maybe less ranting about prequel haters & likers, and more exploration of how you'd have to change ROTS if it were the only prequel?

I realize that I reported the thread because I thought it was getting out of hand and wasn't useful.

But to be edited in the way it way, makes it look like I simply bolded the text and wrote it myself.

It doesn't say that a moderator did this. So it just makes me come off like a complete jack***, to be honest.

I think this might be something you might want to look into if you plan on editing people's posts.

If I was being modd'ed upon, I'd like a PM to clarify. Otherwise, people need to know that I didn't make that statement.

I agree, the mod in question should have put his/her name. I've amended the edit to make it clear it's a mod edit. The edit system here isn't as good as it was on the old boards since it doesn't say who editted the post or how many times. I believe Grimby will be looking for an edit plug-in for the perm boards. I'll remind the mods in MS about edits.

It wouldn't surprise me if that was @halibut . The guy has done this sort of thing in the past, and being that he, later on in the page, posted all bold-like, it's not that far of a stretch. When he did this the last time, a mod made it known which mod made the edit... because that information would have been available with the old system. Why the continued secrecy, Laj? Why is this person referred to as "the mod in question," and why does your edit only say, "mod edit?"

    Nope, wasn't me.

And there's no deliberate "secrecy". It was darthboba, after the OP of this thread reported the thread himself.

Ah, I see. I apologize for my post being so accusatory. I just think this is a problem. Mods should not be allowed to edit or warn anonymously.

Well, the IGN software automatically added the name of the person editting the post. Xenforo doesn't. However, we can usually find out who did the edit by looking in the mod log. Hopefully after the dust settles we can find a plug-in that will add the name automatically again.

    No probs :)

There's nothing deliberately secretive. We're just so used to putting "mod edit" that it can easily slip the mind that the editor no longer shows up. You are absolutely right that it is important that both the poster and the other posters in a thread know who has made an edit.

Not sure I'd class it as a "problem", certainly an "issue", but definitely one that the mods need to be aware of when editing.

It's not so difficult to type, "darthboba edit: be nice... " etc...
  9. halibut Administrator

Of course it isn't. Just takes a bit of time adapting to "change" especially when people are behaving and the edits are less frequent ;)

Yeah, that was me being in a hurry this morning as I had stuff to do. Most of the people who post where I mod are rarely edited or reported so I'm still getting used to the Reporting function.

I can go into the thread and post some hantai porn or a goatse gif, so that you can get some practice, if you want. I'm always willing to lend a helping hand.

I think we're probably good for now, thanks. But your enthusiasm for assisting has been noted :p
