Supanova is happening in Sydney next weekend and in Perth the weekend after that. Is anyone planning on going to it?
I went today (Sunday) and had a good time. It was my first visit to Supanova so it was an interesting experience.
I went on the Saturday, it was my second year going. I felt more involved with it than last year now that I knew what to expect and attended some of the talks/panels by some of the guests which were great. What did you enjoyed the most from your first experience at Supanova?
I enjoyed getting the signature from Alfie Allen and going to his Q&A session. Other than that, some of the stalls were interesting but I didn't immerse myself in them much so I got bored pretty quick. It didn't help that I was there on my own. My friends were there on the Saturday.
Going with friends makes it more fun though this year for me felt like musical friends: Lose one and run into another and then find the other and the other set got lost in the crowd. There was one I saw from a distance that morning and never saw him for the rest of the day, oh well, we all had a great time and got quite a few 'spoils of war'. I got to meet Jennifer Hale and got her signature for Aayla Secura and Samus Aran related material. I was late to her Q&A but I've noticed that there was a ton of Mass Effect questions asked and only one about Bastila Shan. Matthew Reilly's talk was great and it was great fun meeting him again, I'm excited about his upcoming book. Also, that was his DeLorian parked outside the lobby. You definitely have to go to next year's one, it feels like a different experience the second time around.
I know this is old news but it was a bit of a surprise to learn that Stan Lee was inducted as an honorary member of the 501st during the Melbourne Comic-Con. Was there anyone here that attended the event?
Not me, I do know people who went, but thats the first I've heard on that front. I was at a SAFF event tonight, totally FB related and organised. Was asked the vital question - "When do we get our boards back?" How longs a piece of string?? Anyway, told them to get here, but doubt they will
I wish I could have been there to help on that front, but alas, back then I was in the US with little access to the internet, or none in some cases. Today, the SAFF had a Christmas in July luncheon at our CR's house, and it was a good turn out. We laughed, asked Trivia questions, ate good food and enjoyed the company. Thank you to Kooky!
Did anyone see me at Supanova? I was the Imperial officer at the 501st booth and my fiancé was the crewman. And the guy who inducted Stan Lee into the 501st is a friend of mine, Nick Bishop who is --Azrael-- on the JC. There's quite a bit if vitriol from the US how Lee was inducted here, by Aussies. But they had plenty of chances.
Hmmm.. I am guessing it is partially because Stan Lee's company; Marvel, was responsible for the comic adaptation of the original film and that continued on into other adventures.. before the Dark Horse times. Katana Geldar, that's awesome that your friend was the one who inducted Stan Lee! The US should be happy about there being another member to the 501st, which reminds me... wasn't Stephen Stanton (TCW Tarkin, etc) inducted by the Terra Australis unit too? Were you at the Sydney Supanova on the Saturday? I think I might have... I remember seeing Darth Revan, Darth Talon, Palpatine, several classes of Troopers and a few other officers.
Yes, TAG got Stephen Stanton too and it was Nick who inducted him as well. He's an honorary Thylacine Squad member. And I was at Supanova both days.
Here ya go Here are the rest http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v457/Katana_Geldar/Supanova 2012/?start=all
