Looks like it! When we came back up the first time there was a database issue that prevented posting. Looks like we basically ran out of disk space on the server due to having the large migration files there. Grahame has done some deletions and we're back in business! Thanks again Grahame!
Just a note that Grahame is doing some database repairs. You might get an error message while it's going on. You might also experience some slowness as the job puts a load on the server.
Wow..that was weird. Im on late night..so I so the boards go. Just now, I went to do a post..and got logged out. Had to log back in... Weeee.... Gotta love it. Hope my conversation I sent made it. *keeps an eye on the board*
I was having the logout problem trying to put the notice up about the crash. Things seem particularly slow right now. The boards were down when I came on this morning UK time but I had to wait for people in the US to wake up and see the email about it.
This outage was caused by the server disk filling up overnight. It's holding a lot of data right now as the IGN data is out there. One of the set-up jobs for the new perm boards was running and used up all the space. That brought MySQL to a crashing halt and Grahame had to reboot the server and do some cleanup to get things going. That was earlier today. As a result of the crash one of the large index tables is now corrupted. Grahame is currently running a fix job for it but it takes a lot of the CPU and that's why you're seeing issues now.
Our tech people are currently converting the old forums to the new format. That's putting a heavy load on the server.
OK thanks for the info LAJ, I assume that these boards will be able to hold all the data from the old ones OK?
That's probably not going to be an issue with the perm boards. In fact I'm pretty sure the data load is done. There was a job running to set up the caching for the perm boards and that filled the space. The 14GB export file from IGN is still on the server as it took a long time for the initial load to put it there. Once we're up and running that can be removed to free up quite a bit of space.
Yeah, that's less than I would've expected, given that 14+ years of posts are being put in. That said, text doesn't take up that much data.
Exactly 20,708,959, not counting private messages. (I know what you're saying - "But there were like 25 million before we moved!!!" That was actually a virtual post count, factoring in all the posts that have been deleted/pruned over the years.)
