    Trash talk? Me? [face_talk_hand] :p

    IC: Carly Fyres
    Vertical City Network, Nar Shaddaa

"And we are out of time for tonight. I wanted to extend a personal thank you to Verity Vehn, owner of the Nar Shaddaa Smugglers, for joining us. I know stepping into the limelight has not been her first priority but we appreciate her cooperation. For Fyre Storm, I'm Carly Fyres, goodnight Nar Shaddaa," Fyres announced as she extended a hand to the majority owner of the franchise.

Fyres removed the wires that the studio used to stay in touch with her. She was tired after a long work week. Wanted to go home and veg watching the Holonet. She knew that there wouldn't be much on that interested her. Maybe another show of Dancing with the Droids, for some reason, people loved watching the famous dance known as the robot. Carly personally hated the show. A bunch of sleazy, oiled up droids, bumping and grinding on the dance floor but that wasn't even the worst of it. The worst part about the show were the judges. The way they talked. So fake, so forced. The sad thing was, people ate that show up. Yeah, somebody actually sat down and watched an entire episode. Each week, every week.

Movement caught her eye. Verity Vehn was leaving. Waiting along the wings of the studio was her husband who greeted her with a kiss and a comforting embrace. Fyres felt a surge of self-pity roar through her. She had done everything right, hadn't she? She had the job, she had the looks, she had the ambition, was independent, but the one thing she could never obtain was a lasting relationship with a guy. She could never figure that one out. Men might as well have been as foreign as speaking Huttese. So, she worked with a few but they were just colleagues. Most of them were married. The ones that were single weren't interested in women, at least, not in that way. No, those single guys swung a different direction. Whatever.

Hopping into her speeder for the long drive home to the nicer part of town, Fyres tuned into a station that played some of the greatest hits of a previous generation of music listeners.

"Welcome back to 102.5, CLSC, the Classic station for all you aging boomers out there," the jockey began.

"We're going to spin some tunes tonight, old songs that might take you back to a time and a place when you actually cared about someone other than yourself. I know, it can be difficult in the Vertical City to do much of anything for others. But, this group, Foreigner, really put out a hit for all those lovers out there that had known something special. Yeah, man, real special. You know the song, you know the era, sit back and relax and dream about what was or what could've been."

Fyres listened to the song. Knew all the words. That didn't stop the tears from coming. She was so damn lonely. Somehow this group spoke to her heart. For being in one of the most populated cities in the galaxy, Carly Fyres had no chance of finding love.

    Tag: No One

OOC: I can now successfully take the cheesiest song award. I've been waiting to do a post with this music for so long now. Oh, boy, don't we all want to know what love is.

    Name: Samantha (Sam) Poland
    Species: Human
    Gender: Female
    Birth Year: 222 ABY
Physical appearance: 5’11 short blonde hair, slim but muscular build
    [IMG]
    Homeworld: Onderon
    Relation to Team: General Manager
    Brief Biography:
Samantha Poland grew up in a well to do household on the planet of Onderon. Her parents owned a profitable gem business and expected Sam to follow in their footsteps. A rebellious child she was a tomboy through and through. She was so athletic that someone told her to try out for the Elite Limmie League when she got of age.

At the tender age of eighteen Samantha took up that offer. She went for an open try out and made the cut. She played Right Corner Back for the Chandrilla Patriots from 240 - 244 ABY. There she was able to taste victory by winning a championship in 241 ABY. Sam was thrilled at the prospects of winning. The endorsements she got were plentiful and satisfying that it fueled her ego and ambition. She even played with one of the all time greats Tan Strensky. Sam grew to loathe him because she felt he was pompous due to his fame.

She was traded to the Denon Demons in 245 ABY and stayed there till 262 ABY. Upset at the lack of championships in Denon, only one championship was won by the team. Sam felt disconnected from the team. She argued with the head coach and told off the General Manager. This behavior led to her firing but it also led to her career starting in another path. She saved enough money to invest in a new team on her homeworld of Onderon. She became the General Manager and works closely with the head coach giving her two cents when she wants.

Welcome to the fun Tee. Looking forward to seeing what your team can do
  5. Trieste Jedi Grand Master

Yep, that's right, 11 teams next season. So we need to find one more or we're going to throw an NPC team in there. :D
  6. Jedi Gunny Jedi Master

If we have 6-team conferences, then we should determine if we need a new playoff system. We could still have the top 6-8 teams going like in the old system, but we could always have an intra-conference playoffs and an inter-conference title game with the conference winners.
  7. JediMaster_1977 Jedi Grand Master

I'm scouting out someone trying to get that one more person. Trust me we will have one
  8. Trieste Jedi Grand Master

There will absolutely be playoff expansion in 271. Right now, based on current input, I am thinking of intraconference playoffs with the champions of each facing each other in the Galactic Cup Final. It will be at least the top 3 teams in each conference making the playoffs. Whether we go as far as 8 is up for debate. That would put us over the 50% mark in the teams-going-to-the-playoffs ratio. The last time we had a conversation about what percentage of teams should go to the playoffs, we pegged it at 50%. However, since I've decided on the new boards we're going to try having an OOC thread for trash talking sane and lucid conversations about the finer points of our great game, I will be reopening this discussion when all of our new players join.

JediMaster_1977, let me know about this other person ASAP. I'd like not have to run a fourth league for the remainder of 271 and the window for being in the GCLA is closing soon. ;)
  9. JediMaster_1977 Jedi Grand Master

She'll be on soon and I'll talk to her then. She's a close friend of mine
  10. Bardan Jusik EUC 1st Mando Chancellor

    Wow, more teams! [face_party]

Welcome TEE, glad to see you have joined us here. [face_dancing]

I like the idea of the OCC thread and the possibility of yet another team. A dozen teams? Very cool.
  11. Teegirl00 Jedi Grand Master

Well i'm not sure what to do exactly i'm just gonna wing it.:p
  12. Trieste Jedi Grand Master

That's pretty much what we all do. ;) You'll do fine.

Things will be a lot clearer once games actually begin.
  13. Bardan Jusik EUC 1st Mando Chancellor

    I still have no idea what I am doing here, but it is alot of fun! 8-}

And fat lot of good it's done us. You'd think we could have rigged a couple championships for ourselves by this point but noooooooooooooo.

    GM Announcement

Due to no apparent progress in transitioning to the permanent boards and the lateness of the hour, there will be no games this weekend. I am postponing the resumption of the regular season one more week.

Also, it appears that JediMaster_1977's friend is not interested in joining so we may indeed have an NPC team unless anyone else joins up.
  18. Bardan Jusik EUC 1st Mando Chancellor

Who wouldn't want to play the beautiful game? :p

Hope someone else joins up though, because if we have just one NPC team the teams in that conference would have a scheduling advantage every season (if we keep with the idea of an unbalanced schedule that is).
  19. Trieste Jedi Grand Master

That is a very fair point. But just tell that to the teams that lost to Kashyyyk in 264 and 265. ;)
  20. Jedi Gunny Jedi Master

Yeah, that 265 Final sucked. [face_plain]
