    OOC: I'm open to suggestions...

OOC: Play some Limmie! Two more regular season games would whet my palate.

OOC: Everyone *is* registered, though we couldn't in good faith begin until April 29 since I'd want to give people a full week to participate. Others care to sound off on that idea?
  4. Bardan Jusik EUC 1st Mando Chancellor

OOC: I am all for continuing on with the season. I also agree with holding off until the 29th so everyone gets a chance to post in a non-shortened week. I also wonder if we should use the time between now and then to "advertise" a little bit in some other areas of the forums. That way when the new boards come online we may have some fresh blood in the pipeline. [face_thinking]

OOC:I would have to dust off the PLL schedule. I think I have it saved somewhere around here. [face_thinking]

    IC: Carly Fyres

    Studio A, Fyre Storm

“Good evening, galaxy, tonight’s top story is the return of one of Nar Shaddaa’s core players throughout much of the last decade. A solid, mature, player, this young woman helped form the nucleus of a very potent and dangerous offensive attack for the Smugglers during her time here. With no further delay, I am proud to introduce our new Full Forward, Helena Forsythe,” Carly announced.

Helena came out from behind back stage to the roars of the audience. Although the front office and Forsythe had a disagreement leading to her being sent to the Coruscant Senators, even Vincent Cutter recognized an opportunity to shore up the offense going down the stretch in the 270 season.

“Wow, what a reception!” Helena announced as she smiled and waved at the crowd.

Once the audience had quieted down, Fyres sent Forsythe her first question. “So tell me, what is it like being back with the Smugglers and can you shed any light as to the clusterfrak that has occurred on Coruscant since Gark S’rily’s termination?”

“I always loved the Smugglers. Even when I had disagreements with the front office, there’s just no other place I would rather play. To wear the burgundy and black again, to play at Six Boroughs, that is something special. Of course, there are a lot of new faces. Hardly any of the old crew is still on the team, save for Chambers, but she’ll always be here. As for Coruscant, I have no idea what happened over there. I think S’rily’s dealing were shady but I’m just a player so don’t listen to me. Just glad to be with a franchise that may have a shot this year,” Forsythe said.

“You’re replacing maligned Full Forward Ankylo after he was found guilty of doping. How quickly do you think you’ll be able to help the Smugglers and learn the new playbook?”

“Shouldn’t be too difficult. Tronnheim runs a tight ship. He’s focused, cerebral, and ready to take the offense to the next level. I plan to work my tail off and earn my spot on the team,” Forsythe responded.

“The Smugglers play a home game against the Senators next week and then face off against the Miners. Sitting at 2-1 right now, the Smugglers cannot afford to play around and need to finish strong as the regular season winds down. How do you fit into this campaign?”

“I know I can play the game well. I’m confident the Smugglers will be sitting on a winning record at the end of the next two weeks. The Senators, though they won’t admit it, are in total dismantling mode and the Miners are very hungry to remind the league why they were once considered the wunderkind of the Limmie world. There will be no easy battles and I think we’ve got a fair shot to go into the rounds fists blazing and knock some people out,” Forsythe said.

“So you’re planning to hurt opposing players?”

    “Not intentionally,” Forsythe laughed.

“Is there a revenge element to this game for you?”

“You bet. Any time a team sends you packing for nothing more than money, yeah, it just gets my blood up. I’m going to go into this game against Coruscant with nothing reserved. No one can hold me back. The Nar Shaddaa Smugglers can’t stand the Senators. There’s a lot of bad blood between these clubs that goes beyond the Limmie pitch. I’m surprised a few players haven’t wound up in jail but you know the league has turned a blind eye to such things. Anyways, the Smugglers are hungry to put down Coruscant in the regular season, put them away so they don’t come to bite us in the rear during the playoffs. That lost last year, yeah, it hurt. I played for that team that kicked the Smugglers rears. Not an easy game. There’s a grudging respect here between the two teams. Perhaps it was karma or something that the Senators lost in the Final. I don’t know. I haven’t been able to watch tape from that game,” Forsythe said.

“I would like to make a correction to what Helena is saying,” Fyres announced facing the audience, “the league used to turn a blind eye to such things. Now, they’re going to come down hard. Nobody is safe. Expect fines, suspensions, even expulsion from the league for anything that blatantly violates the rules.
Now, Helena, where does the team go from here?”

“To the playoffs, to the Final, to victory,” Forsythe said as the audience roared in approval.

“We’re out of time. Good night, Nar Shaddaa,” Fyres replied closing out the taped segment as the camera pulled back showing Forsythe signing jerseys and other sports memorabilia.

OOC: Well in that case...I'm lifting the roster freeze instituted for the Challenges. If I get a few more go aheads from players, I'll announce the resumption of the regular season.

I believe that Gunny made a number of his players available for cash considerations. A reminder to you all: the trade deadline will be the day before the Week 4 games, which will be April 29 if all holds.

OOC: I would prefer to take a break for now and wait until the permaboards come up before continuing with the regular season. I often refer back to old posts to check details, and right now said posts aren't available, which creates the potential for major continuity errors. The only notes I keep on my hard drive about what's gone on in the past (besides my character and team sheets) are the final scores for my teams only from the current season. I don't store complete texts of old posts; once I copy a post into the JCF and confirm that it's posted, I delete it from my Word file. I rely on searching through the game thread and library thread to refresh my notoriously inaccurate memory.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

OOC: Keeping track of all your storylines does cause me to need to refer back to the thread frequently. None of the posts in this game would transfer over to the new thread as well, so they'd likely be lost forever.

    Do you hear that? For-ev-er.

I second jcgoble vote. I backed up several threads from the old boards, but Limmie was not one of them. So I am with out said prior posts.

OOC: Even though I have no problem moving on with the season, I do think we only should if it is unanimous. Trieste, I see your "forever" and raise you a Pinkie Pie. :p

OOC: If we're looking for something to do while we wait for the new boards to come up, we might be able to, with permission of course, borrow an idea from Intervention. Their project while we're on the temp boards is called Intervention Stories; the idea is for players to write short stories (fanfic-style, not IC) about their characters showing something that happened to them before the game began. It's a purely optional exercise. With Bravo's permission (which might be difficult since he's apparently unable to access the boards right now), we could copy that, giving players the freedom to write about either their team or their characters (current and/or former); even both if they choose to. I might, for example, go back to the 240s and follow Marte from high school to his early years with the Storm. It would be purely optional; if you'd rather just take a break, that would be fine as well. Stories would be posted within a week or so of the new boards coming up, which would enable you to check details in the story against any mentions of the past in the game thread and make any necessary corrections before posting it.

What do you guys think? If we like it, we can have somebody post in the Rocketjock to see if it would be kosher with them.

OOC: I actually had a similar idea for Shadow War-Times End, but it was decided to do the battle royale instead. [face_devil][face_skull] So I like this idea.

    OOC: Interesting idea.

And Bardan...would you have just outed yourself as a brony? :D

    yes, yes he did

OOC: I am quite active in Intervention, JC, and am working on a interlude story for one of my characters involved in that RP. If there isn't a unanimous vote to continue the season, then perhaps JC is on to something. I can put up a friendly post over there and see if that would fly if you guys would like.

Trieste, hilarious! I loved that movie growing up. Fooooreeeveerrr

OOC: And I promise that is the last ntime I will inflict this stuff on the ELL. :p

My daughter watches the show and she likes for me to watch with her. I like posting ponies to see the reactions I get from everyone. [face_rofl]

OOC: I'd be open to continuing the season or writing backstory. Either way, I'm going to have to keep the new material flowing if at all possible. :p

OOC: It seems to me that the best course of action is to hold off on resumption of the regular season. Are people looking for more of a direction than just throwing it open for a "free write"? I think that Bravo's idea is a good one. I know that as one of the "old" teams the Miners have a lot of backstory I could explore in terms of past moments of glory. While I don't think that Bravo has the corner on the market on flashbacks, it would be in good form to attempt to get his blessing and pay tribute to his good idea. :)
  20. Vehn Jedi Knight

OOC: Didn't Bravo invent the flashback? [face_laugh]
