    [Alderaanian Transmission Corporation -- Special Broadcast 5 : 4 : 11 ; 14:00 , Aldera]

“Early this afternoon, disaster struck Crevasse City. Though details are scarce at this moment, it is clear that a nuclear device was detonated within the city, devastating all in the surrounding area. Authorities have quarantined the area, reminding that the radiation is extremely dangerous. Though authorities have been mute upon the topic, it is assumed that casualties within the city were absolute.

“Crevasse City, though young, was a promising beacon of prosperity for all of Alderaan. Intended as a tourist hotspot, the city had already begun to stand apart as a true wonder of the galaxy. Now, it seems we may never know what it could have been. Our solemn prayers and wishes go out to those involved and their loved ones. We ask that patience and decorum be exercised as we all cope with a loss of this magnitude. Stay tuned to ATC for updates. We’ll relay information as soon as it becomes available.”

    The State of Things

Barely eleven years have passed since the signing of the Galactic Constitution and the founding of the governing body that will rule the galaxy for thousands of years to come. Though it is small, consisting only of the Core Worlds, the Galactic Republic is bound in peace and cooperation. Hyperspace, discovered for the first time by the galaxy at large, is pushing the boundaries of the Republic, bringing new hope and wonders to the peoples of the galaxy. Perhaps, someday, the entirety of the galaxy will be connected due to these endeavours.

All of that, however, is threatened by the most recent attack on the peaceful planet of Alderaan. The young government, already struggling to form new policy and cement a permanent government from nothing but loose alliances and treaties, is threatened with extermination so soon after its formation. The nuclear assault contains within it the power to shred the fresh bonds, dragging the galaxy once more into war.

Seeking answers, a small team is assembled from within the Galactic Republic to investigate the attack on Crevasse City. It rests on their shoulders to find the truth behind the attack, a task made far more difficult by the nature of the event. Little to no evidence remains, making a challenging task next to impossible. However, should galactic anarchy be avoided, the team of specialists must unite to unravel the mysteries shrouding the incident at Crevasse City . . . .

    The Galactic Republic

For reference, the year is approximately 25,000 BBY. Current members of the Galactic Republic are as follows:

The Jedi Order, though in existence, is not officially affiliated with the Galactic Republic at this date, and resides still on its homeworld of Tython. Their presence in the Galaxy is limited at best. The same can be said of the Sith.

    Technology Within the Galaxy

There are no lightsabers. Blasters are in a primitive and impractical state. Even vibroblades are restricted to belt-mounted power supplies. Weapons in the galaxy primarily consist of slugthrowers and regular blades.

Starships are primitive compared to what you might be used to seeing. Few have much in the way of protective shielding, though radiation shields exist. Artillery consists almost entirely of ballistic weapons, accompanied by missiles and nuclear weapons. Sublight drives are rather standard, and hyperdrives are the new norm, though it’s still feasible to find ships without them. As well, a few Hyperspace Cannons still exist. Turbolaser batteries are being experimented with, but at this stage are in a theoretical state.

    The Players

You will play as one member of a team sent to investigate the attack on Crevasse City. You come from all sorts of backgrounds, but one thing is the same. You are good at what you do, the best, perhaps. All walks of life are welcome on board the team, and all will be needed. Soldiers, detectives, doctors, and so forth.

The game will only be open for four to six players, who will be picked based upon the interest of the character and the best group composition. If I don’t pick your character sheet, keep in mind it is nothing personal, and I will always consider you more so for submitting should you be interested in any other games I may produce. :)

    Name: Jake Telko
    Race: Human
    Homeworld: Corellia
    Gender: Male
    Age: 24

    Profession: DEMOLITIONS/Geology
Special Skills and Certifications: Does I Can make a bomb out of anything count?
Equipment: Slugthrower pistol, knife, Ascension gun with various 'missiles'.(See below)
Lucky backpack full of stuff*- Military type. Lots of straps and pockets.
Personality: Quirky and quiet for the most part. Gets very animated when he is dealing with what he loves: Rocks, and things that explode. ESPECIALLY things that explode. If he's running..you were warned.
Appearance:Looks younger than he is, a boyish charm, light brown hair cut about shoulder length, back part usually tied back neat. Hazel eyes, slender build, often wearing nondescript and comfortable clothing, with many pockets for his various tools.
    Brief Biography:
Jake used to work for some secret organization, but his unorthodox methods soon put him in trouble with superiors. Jake often worked off the grid, and would disappear from time to time on his own research, which soon put him out of favor. He decided to leave, leaving his old command a harmless, but still quite 'impressive' display of how unhappy he was with his old job. Most folks think he's missing a few plasma coils. When folks first meet Jake, they figure he must be some sort of scientist type, because he's usually quiet, and studying different types of rocks, or always reading. But when his type of expertise is called for, Jakes goes into action. Jake can make almost anything explode, special packages, direction and force, large or small. He also likes to use things around him, knowing the explosive nature for many items, so that if the explosion has to looked more 'natural', he can do that to. Jake REALLY enjoys watching things explode and burn, and can talk about it at great length. He can identify pretty much any standard explosives made. Set of goggles always on his head, with 3 different lens types. He likes his drink, and hates 'by the book' type folks.

He also carries small separate containers (6) of various chemicals and a few empty containers to collect anything 'interesting'
    1 small Nova Crystal (sealed)
    5 Lume Rocks
    Flask of Corellian Brandy
Notepad and 'pencil' Always writing notes, especially when researching. Writes in his own 'code'.

    Name:Tulenic D’cel
    Race: Caamasi
    Homeworld: Caamas
    Gender: Male
    Age: 67 years of age

    Profession: Lawyer
Special Skills and Certifications: Graduate of Caamas Law, sat on board that ‘reviewed’ the Republics founding document, and previously practiced on seven worlds with only four losses in his forty-three years service.
Equipment: Briefcase, travel baggage, four communicators, five means of record keeping, small legal listening devices, bejeweled bracelet, and grooming equipment.

Personality: While more than willing to play up his species reputation within alien courtrooms, his age has not softened his often predatory attempts to either defend or prosecute his opponents in and out of the court room.
    Appearance: http://www.starwars-universe.com/images/encyclopedie/especes/vignettes/caamasi_vignette.jpg

Brief Biography: Although a being of sufficient lowliness can often be said to rise above it, Tulenic has often been asked whether the wind still whispers his name. To which he answers, “By the voice of the courts.”

Securing himself favors and indebting himself grossly to leave the slums for the hallowed lecture halls many of his own kind took his presence warily. Would this one be any different from the rest? Was he diverging bud that would bear sweet fruit where his brethren only gave sour? Still he climbed hard and over the decades gained enough to repay his debts, travel the stars, and practice as few others had. Coupled with his races perceived unanimous status he has capitalized and risen in standing in foreign circles as well. Often gaining notoriety for his race first and his abilities second.

After a brief tenure on Chandrilla he had been called to aid in the unification motion the worlds were putting forth. After the Republic was formed he relocated to Alderaan after his second brief Tenure to enjoy a respite, a vacation to savor the past fruits of his labors. A respite that was cut short by the potential legal and political ramifications of the recent crude destruction of life.

    Aldera City, Alderaan - 5 : 5 : 11 ; 15:00

Long before Crevasse City, the Aldera Grand Hotel stood as one of the finest destinations in the newly formed Republic. Though age had begun to creep upon it, the Grand maintained a sense of grandeur and elegance that no new establishment can match. The building topped off as the tallest in Aldera, fully staffed to ensure quality of style and entertainment for the guests. Finer architecture could not be found in the city, and many still rated the Grand above the newer establishments in Crevasse City. For years, the Grand had been centered around its primarily human clientele until the reinvention of the hyperdrive began introducing new species to the idyllic Alderaan. In response, the Grand had recently begun catering to all species within the Republic, up to and including massive renovation efforts. Under normal circumstances, the hotel is fully booked by vacationers and business professionals alike.

Circumstances were far from normal. With the bombing at Crevasse City, many of the guests left the hotel, electing either to spend the trying times with their loved ones in other parts of Alderaan or else off planet. As the hotel was, for the first time in many years, largely unbooked, the management staff had graciously cleared all guests from floors two through six and donated use of them exclusively to the Galactic Emergency Response Council, who had been called in to handle the Crevasse City disaster. These floors served as the temporary command center for both the recovery and investigative teams arriving on Alderaan. A dedicated portion of the hotel’s staff, wanting to aid however they may, volunteered around the clock to provide comfort and sustenance to those working with and for the GERC.

Jace sat in a lavishly decorated lounge on the third floor. He had been lead there and told to wait. What he was waiting for, no one had seen fit to tell him. Though beings came and went periodically, Jace was primarily alone in the lounge.

Several holoscreens were spaced throughout the room. All were tuned to news stations, several of which were the Alderaanian Transmission Corporation’s coverage of the Crevasse City disaster. Thus far, everything the networks had were recycled from the hours of broadcasting after the attack. There was no new information to tell.

Jace had been in the lounge for some time before Jake Telko was lead in. Both young Corellians had little idea of what they were to do at the moment.

Hardly a minute had passed before Tulenic D’cel joined the pair in the lounge. The Caamasi was quite noticeable in the room. Tulenic’s guide, a young man native to Alderaan, addressed the trio assembled. “If you gentlemen will be so kind as to wait for just a while longer, the Commander will be with you as soon as he is able. As you can understand, things are rather hectic at the moment. In the meantime, please, make yourselves comfortable. Order food and drink, if it should be required. It’s provided free of cost.” With that, the man briefly bowed and exited.

Jake Telko was busy checking out the Aldera Grand Hotel. It was some very fancy digs. They had gone through a lot of trouble to get him to come here. Well, at least the place was better than the last place he had been in. Then again, Jake was surprised that they had even bothered to deal with him. He grinned, as he walked in, looking around.

    "Nice."

There was another young man in the room...another Corellian. Jake gave a grin, and nodded after he walked in. They sure must be in trouble, if they had TWO Corellian's working together. The other guy leaned back on the couch.

"Huh, nice place. Wish I could stay here when the planet's not in the middle of a crisis."

Jake nodded. "Yeah..a little too fru fru for me. Any chance to try out the drink yet?" he asked the young man. Their conversation was interrupted when the doors opened once again, and a Caamasi walked in. Well, he came in with another young man, probably from Alderaan spoke to them.

"If you gentlemen will be so kind as to wait for just a while longer, the Commander will be with you as soon as he is able. As you can understand, things are rather hectic at the moment. In the meantime, please, make yourselves comfortable. Order food and drink, if it should be required. It's provided free of cost." The guy then bowed and left the room.

Jake gave a nod to the Caamasi, as he grinned. "Free food and drink? Least they know how to set a proper setting." Jake looked around for a menu, and a comm unit to call for service. He was definitely going to try out some of their brandy. Hopefully Corellian, but the Alderaan stuff was pretty good as well.

Jake looked up at the other two. "You gents gonna join me, or are ya waiting for the 'Commander' to show up first?" he asked them.

Following the young human through the renovating Grand Hotel he had to admit that the place was very nicely designed and comforteable. Of course that was being changed again to better accomodate the larger races that had been encountered and were joining the Republic as well as the smaller. It only takes one prodigious race with material to trade to make it eventually more wise to flow with the shifting eddy then to reinforce a sinking plant.

Looking at the two in the room he could deduce their worldly origins, both had the distinctive odors of Corellia so engrained in their bodies that he couldn't help but pick it up. As the guide left him with due requests for patience to wait here with the two humans he nodded once in acquiescence to the man before he departed. Of course the Corellians had a more direct response to immediately want to raid the liquer and food supplies that had been generously offered. To the currently speaking one he had to make an effort not to clear his sinus' from the mans proximity as he considered before responding as the other spoke. "It would be rude to leave, libations can be brought to us as we wait here if you do not object to the current atmosphere. Although I would recommend against any large orders as we are preparing for a meeting, large meals dull minds." With a small grin he raised his hands and clapped twice.

With no means immediately provided the older methods were a way of summoning assistance. A small non-alcoholic beverage and a container of varied nuts or dried fruit did sound appealing, especially if the drink was hot. Of course he would defer to the waiters recomendation or the chefs just to possibly try something new in those regards.

Getting up from the couch, the other Corellian looked over at Jake. "I suppose I could go for a drink, I've always wanted to try Alderaani spice wine." Jake smiled. "Now you're talking." he said as he reached for a comlink in order to order some drinks.

The Caamasi then spoke up. "It would be rude to leave, libations can be brought to us as we wait here if you do not object to the current atmosphere. Although I would recommend against any large orders as we are preparing for a meeting, large meals dull minds." With a small grin he raised his hands and clapped twice.

Jake looked over at the other man, and then at the Caamasi. They were always so full of themselves. Jake snorted softly. Unless there was a droid someplace, he wondered why the Caamasi was clapping. With a raised eyebrow, he looked over at the being. "Who said we were going someplace? More ways than one of ordering stuff." He said as he looked back at the other human. Yeah, this was gonna be fun, he thought to himself. If he DIDNT get any alcohol before this meeting, his mind was already going to be dulled. This guy seemed as fun as a drop through a D-blaster. Wonderful. Jake leaned against the couch.

"Name's Jake. Since it looks like we're gonna be roommates, why dont you fellas tell me your names?" he stated, as he clicked on the comlink, to get someone up to take their orders.

Jace hardly reacted, being more concerned with getting a drink.

Leaning against the couch, the other Corellian said "Name's Jake. Since it looks like we're gonna be roommates, why dont you fellas tell me your names?"
Jace looked back at Jake, "I'm Jace, but you can call me... Uh, Jace" and extended a hand to him.

Sniffing once he rubbed his chin at the one Corellians production of a comlink. Having come to this world to get away from work for alittle while he had purposfully come without it. Only now did it register that he would have to pick one up if he was being out of vacation for such an event. In turn each human identified himself and as one familiar with such races customs of nomenclature he repeated the names to himself softly after they were given. "Jake. . .Jace." Interesting how similar these two random humans from a similar planet shared a likely even more similar identifiers.

"D'cel, Tulenic D'cel." reaching into his robes he produced two holo-cards with his information, they were perfect for most meetings and as such he held one out to both individuals. The cards were rather plain with merely his name, associated firms and world initials for practice, degree as legal counsil, and firm com-codes that would know how to get in touch with him to relay any messages. "A nice tea and dried fruits would be welcome."

The other Corellian stuck his hand out towards Jake. "Im Jace, but you can call me ... uh, Jace." He stated. Jake gave a bit of a laugh, as he reached over, and shook the man's hand.

    "Glad to meet ya, Jace."

The Caamasi rubbed his chin, and then spoke up, as he reached into his robes. "D'cel. Tulenic D'cel." he told them, as he pulled out two holo-cards. Jake raised an eyebrow, but reached over and took one of the cards he offered. The alphabet of letters that followed after the being's name, and then codes..comm codes ..oh good grief. It was a lawyer? Why in the middle of a crisis would they call in a fraggin lawyer? Well, this team was getting interesting indeed. Jade nodded his head. "D'cel huh? Well, thanks for the card. I'll keep it, just in case." Jake quickly pocketed the card.

"A nice tea and dried fruits would be welcome." D'cel added. It took Jake a second, to realize that the Caamasi was asking for it to be added to their 'order'. "Sure thing, D'cel. I'lll add it." Jake told him, as he flicked his comlink once more, adding the addition to their order.

Yeah, food was good too, Jake guessed. Considering they didnt know how long they were going to have to wait.. And it was all being paid for by someone else, why not? Jake finished the order, and then flopped back down on the couch, as they waited. "Well, that takes care of that. Now we just get to wait, while this Commander fellow shows up." Jake leaned back, appearing rather relaxed. He was checking out his two companions. One a lawyer, and the other. Well, he could take a few guesses. Yes, quite an interesting team indeed. He wondered what this Galactic Emergency Response Council yewhaass were planing to do about this situation. That explosion, from what the hol-nets had told them, sounded like it had been pretty intense.

Jake coudlnt wait to get a peek at it.

After the Corellian, Jake, shook his hand, the Caasmasi rubbed his chin and produced a pair of holocards from his robe, introducing himself as "D'cel. Tulenic D'cel," and offering one to Jake (whom accepted it), and one to Jace. He also took it, and, examining the card, thought "Huh, a lawyer. Interesting choice for a team investigating a nuclear attack". He then looked back up at the Caasmasi, and said "Pleased to meet ya', Tulenic!", slipping the card into his pocket.

Nodding at both the men after their words after taking the card he simply smiled as he straightened his cloths before gingerly taking a seat with, what appeared to him, the only good posture in the room. Still with a small sniff he didn't forget that if a few things had been different in his younger days he could of easily fallen into a lowly rut similar to these he was possibly either going to have respresent after they aided the government, or shudder the thought work with to resolve the conflict. Neither prospect was rather appealing but a job from the nascent Galactic Republic was not one that he could turn down and certainly not out of hand.

So he sat and waited, dreading all possibilities for the future.

A commotion could clearly be heard off-screen. Whatever it was, it was enough of a disruption to draw and keep the attention of the anchor. His eyes widened, and he stood, shoving his datapad aside. Several figures moved past the screen, obviously too intent upon what their task to care about broadcasting decorum. The Anchor moved over to talk quietly with someone, and soon was back. He sat, straightened his clothing, and everything on the set seemed to restore to normal.

"We apologize for that interruption, but we bring you more information on the crisis at Crevasse City. Exclusive to the ATC, we bring you actual live footage shot prior to and following the event."

The feed cut to a video, high quality, filming Crevasse City from a distance. Over the cameraman flew a craft. The craft was easily visible on the recording.

"As you can see, the craft appears to have the distinctive markings of a Shawken military bomber."

The craft leveled out over Crevasse City, at which point something dropped from it. As it sped off, a rumbling began on the video, growing as the canyon filled with a bright light. Soon, a mushroom cloud explosion shot upward, captured perfectly on film. Shortly after, the video cut off.

"So what does this mean? Were we attacked from offplanet? Who's to say. Stay tuned to the ATC, and we'll relate all information as it comes to us."

Famished, the trio in the lounge ordered some refreshments. It took several minutes to arrive. As the server was passing around the food and drink, that is when all in the room became aware of the broadcast. They couldn't help but see it, as it aired on at least fours screens in the room. How Jake, Jace, and Tulenic would respond was anyone's guess, but Tulenic, at least, would know that if this was an attack by Shawken, that could mean war. A war that would tear the Republic apart.

As they waited for their orders to be delivered, the holo-news had played in the background. So far, it had just repeated news that they had already heard about, as Jake sat back and relaxed. After a few moments of long silence, there was a knock at the door. They were quick, Jake had to note, as a server came up, with their order ready and good to go. Well, this certainly put Jake in a much better mood.

As the server was passing around the food and drink, the four screens in the room, came up with a new broadcast. And what a broadcast that was. They had been trying to come up with some upbeat news, to the populace, when the screens suddenly changed. Jake, who was just enjoying his first sip of his drink, moved to get closer to one of the screens.

A commotion could clearly be heard off-screen. Something was going on. Suddenly the anchor came back to the screen.

'Yeah..no kidding.' Jake thought to himself frowning deeply. He continued to watch the feed silently. moving closer to the screen studying it intensely.

Were we attacked from off planet? Who's to say. Stay tuned to the ATC, and we'll relate all information as it comes to us."

Jake suddenly snapped his head up, looking over at the server still in the room. "Well, now that was something." He stated, and quickly walked over towards the being. "Thanks for the food and drinks. We'll call if we need anything else." Jake made sure they all had all the things they ordered, before he all but it was pretty obvious that he was trying to get the guy out of the room, quickly. His easy going demeanor had evaporated..much like his drink was going to, as soon as he got the server out of the room. Luckily, there was a bottle left behind. That should take care of it.

Jake got the server out of the room, and then quickly shut the door behind him. He crossed his arms and frowned deeply saying nothing at the moment. He then spoke up, looking at his companions.

"Did..anything there seem a bit .. strange.. to you?" he asked them. It was a good way to see what he was going to be working with. He coudlnt wait to see what the 'Commander' made of this newest bit of news. Mater of fact, how in fark did they get to air that footage?

Jake took another long pull from his drink, as he waited for the others to respond.
