MSNBC is reporting that the judge has revoked Zimmerman's bail and is giving him 48 hours to surrender.
What??? Just saw the breaking news item. It's about time!! And he had a second passport he didn't surrender, too.
Prosecutors alleged that Zimmerman, 28, hid from the court the fact that he had raised $135,000 on a website he set up before he was granted $150,000 bail on April 20. Zimmerman is facing second-degree murder charges in the shooting death of Martin, 17, in February. In a hearing in Sanford, Fla., that Zimmerman did not attend, Judge Kenneth Lester said Zimmerman engaged in a "material falsehood" about his finances." http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2...l-for-george-zimmerman-in-trayvon-martin-case
Yeah, it looks bad. Zimmerman's integrity has been dealt a severe blow by his failure to disclose the true state of his finances. However, the existence of a second passport is easily explainable and doesn't mean anything - the fact that it wasn't surrendered however, looks really bad, and even though the judge bought the lawyer's story, I don't think I do.
I doubt the judge actually believes the lawyer. He just can't really question that explanation. No proof. Lying about tons of cash and another passport, to me, are reason enough to revoke his bail entirely. That right there looks like he at least wants the option of fleeing the country. He also might have thought he needed to hang on to that money for lawyers.
It's like those people who got in trouble for continuing to draw food stamps and welfare cash after winning the lotto, but didn't report their winnings 'cause they weren't working at a job. Once you have the cash, it becomes an asset for you to disclose when asked, regardless.

It is noted at that hearing in the above link, the judge requested that bail be increased. to say that zimmerman can keep the money is misleading. Yes, he can keep it, but he was supposed to disclose it at the first bail hearing.
I'm just wondering why that seems to be the primary issue now to cause his bail to be revoked - they've had a month. Maybe the passport was the last straw?
There is a lattin motto that resume the situation Testis unus testis nullus One witness means no witness. One way or the other, it will be impossible to prove anything. It's Taylor vs Zimmerman, and Taylor can't talk.
They don't have just one witness. They have the police reports, the various witnesses and the physical evidence. The chief prosecutor has said that not all the evidence they have on Zimmerman has been released. When it is basically your word against someone else's and you are proved to be a liar, your word won't count for doo-doo.
His credibility is tarnished, but that still, unfortunately, doesn't prove that he's guilty of second degree murder.
