And if you watch a couple of episodes in season 1 including maybe "Rookies" and then watch the Umbaran arc you'll miss Rex's one big episode (see Season 2's "The Deserter") and Fives' development in the prequel episode "Clone Cadets." ... "Clone Cadets"... "Rookies" ... "ARC Troopers" ... see what I did there? You might throw in the Citadel Arc behind "The Deserter".
Ack, typo. It was supposed to be "not meant to be a serial", fixed... but now I just look stupid. ...What. "I'm not saying you have to sit through every last episode" "I'm the type of person that would say give it at least a season" Yeah, go watch every damn episode- straight through till the end of the credits or it doesn't count. That's clearly, clearly what I was implying. You want straight talk, here you go: In my opinion ten episodes are not enough of a sample to say without a reasonable doubt that the characters in this series are "very very very inferior" to their movie counterparts. If you wanted to say "In the ten episodes I've seen the characters have been pretty much ****", well that's one thing. You instead said, "I've seen ten episodes and all the people were **** so that obviously means that they're **** in every other episode," which is an entirely different thing, and obviously something that I disagree with. It's hilarious that I actually agree with you for the most part, but frankly you're annoying me and I think I'm done here.
Why does it always have to be sooo serious? It's a fun romp. It's SW, be grateful we have some. It could be like 1987 all over again, as it was for the first generation, if not for the show.
10 episodes = 220mins and 3.5+ hours. thats more than an entire movie's worth of time. how many hours is it gona take for some development to take place? ive seen more development in star wars episode 3 which was like 120 mins or soo.
<<<This person from that first generation agrees. It was a very, very long time between 1983 and 1995 when the VHS box set was released. Especially as someone who never got into Zahn so that wasn't a relief in the early 90s.
I am of the new(er) generation. One generation above the kiddies watching TCW. I am very grateful I watched the OT in VHS form as I hated the new DVD versions. I don't really like this show because I believe it leaves a bad representation of what Star Wars is to the new first generation (kids).
I would watch at least a couple and a half seasons in order. There is a bigger story arc through all 4 seasons, but it is not glaringly obvious like most tv serials. Some of the multi-episode story arcs are continuations of past episodes. All the characters do develop, just slowly. After all they are trying to stretch 3 years of conflict into as many seasons as possible here. You can see the changes in the characters in episodes like recently with the Undercover Agent Obi-wan story arc, where we start seeing the Jedi not trusting Anakin and he openly accuses Obi-wan and the Council. I've even noticed that Dooku is starting to have second thoughts about his apprenticeship with Sidious. He argued against Sidious about killing Ventress and even hesitated for a while to give out the order. He didn't want to but knew he had no choice. That is a major development there with his character. Obi-wan Kenobi I don't think has changed much, but then again they really haven't done much with his character either like they have with Anakin, Ashoka, and Ventress. Though we do get to see him struggle a bit between his feelings for Satine and his duty as a Jedi. Ventress character has changed a great deal since Dooku's betrayel. Ashoka is maturing and Anakin has endured a lot of tough decisions that have affected his character. Most recently is the Zygerian slave trade episodes and the Crisis on Naboo episode in Season 4. The only characters I would go as far as to say are still cardboard are the Jedi Council and General Grievous but that is only because they haven't really touched on those characters much in comparison to the main ones.
Dark Empire gave me chills, back in the early 90's (well 94..)... I really couldn't have enough! I'd walk miles to the comic book store and drool over the collector stuff.
