My friend once had a hamster that would climb across the top of the cage monkey bars style. Quite entertaining, really wink

As for that problem, you could try getting a new cage that takes quite a bit of strength to open. Not one that has a stuck door, you understand tongue , just one that you can't just nudge open.

EDIT: Oh, or one that had a hatch on the ceiling. Just a thought.

lol! I had a mouse that would walk across the top of his cage, on the inside of course, hanging upside down.

One day I even found him halfway down the backyard, which is a bit of a distance from his cage... ehem

Hense the mouse walking along the top of the cage... trying to escape not simply for a change of scenery;)

My cat, Waldo, knocked my sister's hamster cage onto the floor, it opened, the haster escaped and my cat ate it.

True story!

hamster's name was Ears (with a name like that it probably wanted to die tongue ) ... and my sister was very upset

Did you start a thread about hamsters with the expectation that it would not be derailed?

You can feed all of the people some of the time
And lots of the people none of the time
But you can't feed none of the people 34% of the time.
That would be bad.

Hampsters are very good escape artists.
My little brothers was in an aquarium with a lid on it. We thought that was enough.
He climbed up the water bottle to the top, and pushed the top off and escaped.

We put a book that was heavier than him on top of the lid.
He climbed up and pushed it off.

We finally put many books on top of it and he couldn't get out.

If they can fit their head through an opening, they can get out, so they only need a small crack to be able to escape.

One time my hamster somehow managed to escape out of what we thought was a locked cage. I think the door HAD to have been left open, because there is no way he coudl have gotten the door open. It's fastened so tightly I can barely get it open, from OUTSIDE the cage.

But everyone denies having touched the door. Maybe hamsters can walk through walls...

As a youngin, we had two male hamsters who must have really wanted to have babies. Squecky got a sex change and we became the main supplier of hamster babies for the pet shop. happy

Some escaped and we had a colony of hamsters living in our house for sometime.

All was fine until one day, after seperating the sexes again, the males revoted against Speedy their father and ate him. It was a sad day.

When I was younger, I had a hamster named "Tippy" that I abseloutely adored, don't get me wrong, he was a vicious little beast, but I loved him anyways, I was 6 at the time, so I did not know any better wink

I remeber on a couple of occasions tippy managed to get out his cage, and everytime it would be my dads job to catch him, this may not seem like a big thing, but my dad would sometimes stay up all night trying to catch this tiny little hamster, most of the time getting badly bitten before even catching him and returning tippy to his home. To this day my dad still shudders when I mention "Tippy"

Good times, Good times grin
