Teams that play aside, what is it about the design, atmosphere and other factors that make it your favorite?
I've been to baseball parks mostly, and Shea Stadium's cousin, Dodger Stadium, is my favorite. I've only been there once, but I loved my experience there. The whole 'stadium-in-a-hill' thing is cool, as is the view, bleacher section and atmosphere.

I have to agree w/ you about Dodger Stadium, Baron. I would like to go to Wrigleys and Fenway before making a final judgment. I also like the Phillies brand new stadium, it is so much nicer than the Vet (though I have nostalgic reasons for liking the Vet).
I have to disagree about the Staples Center, Droideka. The Staples Center is a dime a dozen arena that have been built in almost every basketball/hockey town in the 90's. Staples is no different than the First Union Center in Phila, American Ailines Arena in Dallas and Miami and all the others. They are a dime a dozen. I like the individual aspects of football and baseball stadiums so much more.
Edit: speaking of stadiums, I am about to go over to the LA Colissuem for the USC game. The Colissuem and the Rose Bowl are two great, historic college stadiums.

From what I've heard from my brother, Wrigley is pretty dingy, but the atmosphere must more than make up for it.
I've been to Fenway a few times, and agree it's nice, but too cramped for my tase.
I was lucky enough to go the Vet last year (Steve Carlton bobblehead day) and got to experience Philly fans for myself.

I agree completely. All of these arenas are based on the same 'warehouse' design, including Continental Airlines Arena. Madison Square Garden is great (it also has the unique roof), but I can't wait for the new Nets arena in Brooklyn designed by Frank Gehry (this will blow other venues out of the water).

The Lake Elsinore Stadium..........home of the Lake Elsinore Minor League Storm
Its like down the street from my place so its all I know. There are some cool things to sk8board on there so thats why I like it, as long as we dont get kicked out and/or arrested.

Baron, you have to go down to Phila and see a game at the new Mellon Stadium. It is a great new ballpark. Looks kinda like Camden Yard and it has an old time feel to it.

Staples Center. it's amazing.
Every city has that arena.

Texas Stadium is always an experience. (We do have a hole in the roof so God can watch his favorite team.)
Pac Bell park wins hands down.

Pac Bell is nice because of the view right on to the SF bay. But I don't really care much for the stadium itself.

RE: What's your favorite sporting venue?
Yeah, me, my brother and his friends were gonna go to a Mets-Phillies game earlier in the year, but the plans broke down. I'm curious to see it for myself, because the wave of cookie-cutter ballparks (all based on Camden) sort of makes these new ones anonymous.
With Busch going by the wayside soon, Shea and Dodger Stadiums will be the only 60's parks still in use (it's important to pay homage to this era, no matter how 'tacky' it may have been, IMO).

I was a big fan of Atlanta Fulton County Stadium, which was home to the Braves for the longest time. Also, having grown up on the north side of Chicago, I absolutely loved Wrigley Field. I never was a huge fan of the Cubs, but Wrigley Field was just an awesome place to see a ball game at.

Gehry is overrated
And MSG sucks, I hate it there.
As for my favorite sporting venue, I don't have one. I don't find anything special about any, not including outside influences like the apartment building rooftops in Chicago, which is cool. Everything is just too general, and whatever designers try to add to "kick it up a notch" doesn't help IMO, I see it as overkill.
