Seperation of art and real life is something that 99.9% of the population can do without a second thought. The one madman who can't do that has to be identified before they can act out their fantasies, not catered to by a blander than bland world of entertainment. I wasn't implying that people can't seperate art from reality - I WAS saying that we're becoming desensitized to bloodshed and violence, and that for so much of our 'art' to glorify violence is not a good thing.

But it still requires someone to fail to tell the difference, fail to make that seperation, for them to go through with a shooting such as the one's we keep hearing about. They are used to it, it is commonplace, and eventually it ceases to be false. I would say I'm fairly desensitised to violent images on television, but that doesn't mean I see the next step as some lunatic shooting. No, it takes a failure of mind to see such actions through.

My wife is a 3rd grade teacher, and she deals with these kids that have no parents in the home on a regular basis. I'm always hearing stories of how these kids reference reality shows and tv as sources as to why things are happening in their lives. It's quite sad. Well you're saying that violence has been growing. Tell that to the black people who were hosed down in the streets. The answer is this: the media has learned that bad news= good ratings. So now every murder, rape and death is flashed across the television screen. In reality there isn't any more violence than before.
