Seriously though, if you really want a scientific discussion about how this drive was supposed to work in theory, let me know. There were, of course, some artistic liberties taken in the movie but, yeah. Pretty damned amazing. The problem they had with their reactor was enough that the core could have/should have melted down and burned a hole through the ship, putting the reactor at the bottom of the ocean.
