I am very happy to have this soundtrack fully operational at last. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I still do not have the haunting audio played at the beginning of the film. I would lift it directly from the movie, but a stupid submarine thingy interrupts it near the end.

Oh man. The last of the books I've been ordering to teach myself Final Cut Studio have arrived. 11 Books. 6 from the Apple Certified Pro Training Series. 7 of them on Final Cut, 4 on motion graphics. By the time I finish reading them a new incarnation of all the software I'm trying to learn will have been released.

I want Final Cut Pro. Why can't Final Cut exist for the PC, so I could find some illegal free version to download?

You can illegally install Mac OS on any intel PC, and then install apple software. Had a friend who did that.

Because it would break your PC in 5 minutes?
I really need to watch The Wire. I've been meaning to for about a year but I have way too much homework

The Wire is amazing. I've only season 1, and stupidly of me, season 5, but it's some of the best television around. I think this has been discussed before, but you should also check out The Shield. Final season starts in the fall, so the whole series should be DVD-atized within a year or so.
Edit: Speaking of things like The Wire and The Shield, and earlier Weeds, I really want to write something featuring characters who are engaged in morally questionable or outright immoral activities but who are not necessarily bad people. I love that. The moral gray zone.

My Wire detector went off, so here I am (actually, I just checked the thread, but the first thing sounds better).
You can illegally install Mac OS on any intel PC, and then install apple software. Had a friend who did that.
Besides being illegal, it's also highly unstable, and you have to be pretty technically proficient, I think. It's not load and forget. That you can have both Windows and OS X on a Mac was a huge help for me on the last day of work in June, when it saved me from my own negligence/bad decision in formatting my flash drive a certain way (and then saving important material to it that was unreadable outside OS X). I plan to get Parallels soon, which should help even more.
I've only season 1, and stupidly of me, season 5, but it's some of the best television around.
I still don't understand that one, but I know you like it just the same. I just hope you haven't missed out on anything by skipping to the last season. I finished re-watching Season 3 recently, and am waiting a bit to watch Season 4 for the first time.

My understanding is that it was a dip in quality (as opposed to the fourth season, which was considered by multiple publications to be among the best in TV history), but I hope it was still good enough. I assume it was, since you speak highly of it.
It'll give you a different perspective on Seasons 2-4, so that's worth something. You're welcome to borrow my copies of those seasons, by the way.

The street level and the cops storylines of Season 5 are brilliant. I didn't really care for the newspaper storyline. I understand they introduce some new element every season. The docks, the politics, the school system, etc. Based on what I read, those stories are great. The newspaper one isn't bad or anything, but most of the time when those scenes were on I was like "Ok, cool...let's get back to the exciting stuff." Without getting specific, there are some very intense things going down in the other storylines, and the newspaper scenes were kind of just...well...not like that. Good characters, though.

I'm glad the characters sound like they're as good as ever (the non-newspaper stuff). Because of my background, I suspect I may be more interested than the average person in the paper storyline, but that's uncertain of course. Season 2 is probably still my favorite overall.

That's what my most recent script was about! And also some of my short films. And the majority of film ideas I have. I just really, really love that idea. I find it compelling and very Hitchcockian.

Sorry Rachel . I know you're already sold on it. I'm afraid my chances to discuss it with people are a bit slim, so I tend to jump on whatever scraps I get .

Well! Have I got a series for--- oh. we've already covered that .
