Sleepy Game - The Winchester Mansion
Rules for the Sleepy Winchester Mansion
1. As goes with all role-playing, god-moding (definition below) is NOT allowed.
2. If you are eliminated/murdered, in the spirit of Halloween, you may return as a ghost, but you may not give direction to the remaining players.
3. No magic powers, unless your villain/character has documented such powers. For instance, Palpatine being able to throw things and use Force lightening, but we have no documentation of him being able to create a pizza out of thin air. If you want something, you must go to said room to get such.
Death in the Sleepy Game
1. Murders are final. If your character is murdered there is no chance it will return to the game. Resurrection is not allowed, however unless given by the Game Master for a prize from a challenge, ghostly hauntings are perfectly acceptable.
2. The punishment for elimnation is a 24 hour ban, but don't forget that you're allowed to post with a sock, and you can post as a ghost, so long as you do not affect the outcome of the game.
3. Do not whine about getting eliminated. This is a murder game! That means people die. I'm not the one who decides who to kill, the murderer who I have contracted, is.
4. If for some reason you decide to leave the game, you will still be banned and your character murdered. Once you left/quit, you cannot return.
Winning the Sleepy Winchester Mansion Game
The game will eventually consist of just three players.
Two of these are innocent and a third is the murderer.
The murderer chooses who gets the axe last and by default who wins the EIGHTH SLEEPY GAME.
The last killed will receive "No special treatment."
He or she will receive a 24 hour ban the same as everybody else.
The winner is the one who finally defeats the murderer and lives to survive the infamous Winchester Mansion.
Identity of the Murderer
Sleepy Winchester Mansion will have a great trail of clues. But with this will come a mirror image of red herrings.
The Murderer I choose for the beginning of the game is not necessarily going to survive the whole game. He or she CAN be found out, eliminated and replaced by a new Murderer!
Upside to being a Murderer
+should you survive to the end of the game, you will not be banned
+you decide who wins
+you decide who dies and how
The first Murderer has been chosen by myself recently.
This one may turn out to be the only Murderer when the game has run its course.
Downside to being a Murderer
-you sign off your chances at getting a 48 hour VIPship
-you can be found out, eliminated, and replaced at any time and you'll never know by whom
If you think you know who the Murderer is AND you want to replace this person, PM me with your guess. If you are right, you replace the Murderer.
If you are wrong, you lose the game. Your character will be murdered ASAP!
A few things about Role-playing
OOC. It stands for "out of character".
If you have a question about the game or something else, ask it OOC.
If you want to comment about something out of character, OOC before it.
Discuss the clues, murders OOC- then OOC before it. Or even just to socialize.
OOC IS NEVER IMPLIED.
IC. It stands for "in character".
The majority of posts in this thread should be IC-labeled.
Remember, "in character" means just that- in character.
Act your character but with a bit of yourself thrown in the mix as well.
For the beginning of the game, please use IC followed by "as [character name]" so people can memorize who is who w/o having to constantly refer back to the player list. It is your option to put your character name and SWM involvement in your signature.
Also, in IC, remember to refer to other players with their character names.
In OOC, just their screen names.

The curtain rises to show The Winchester Mansion looking glorious in the mid-afternoon sun.
Clarification of terms:
Ktala with some modifications to fit this game posted:
1. No Auto-hitting. This is a fairly basic rule. It means do not assume someone else's reaction, because they might have a different idea for what their character is doing. You may suggest a reaction, such as the amount of damage taken from an attack, but if they can think of a viable reason as to why they shouldn't take that damage, so be it.
2. No God-moding. Another simple, yet easy-to-break rule. If you aren't familiar with the term, it basically means no creating characters with no weakness, no superweapons, etc. Also falling into this category is creating a character with things they shouldn't have. For example: Just because Palpy has Force lightning does not mean that Jabba the Hutt gets it too.
3. No using OOC information. This rule simply states that you shouldn't use things you know OOC, or Out of Character, in character(IC). All that means is just because you know something, does not mean your character knows it. If your character has a reason to know something and you can explain it when asked, then more power to you, but "He knows through the Force" or any other magical thing isn't going to save you, so be prepared to back yourself up. If you cannot prove your character should know, then other players can disregard your presence in that scene.
4. Do not manage other people's characters in any way, shape, or form. This means that you cannot control them, post damage for them, etc. UNLESS THEY GIVE YOU PERMISSION.

Always using IC with your character name really helps (a lot) too. Also, we really might want to use the 'tag' rule where you address others or it gets really confusing.

Professor Snape of Hogwarts stands in front of the Winchester Mansion looking vaguely irritated. His greasy dark hair blows gently in the light breeze that has sprung up on this beautiful, sun-filled autumn day.
Presumably this is why he's annoyed.
He grabs his trunk and skulks into the foyer, where he waits with it for further direction and the other guests to arrive. He stands, ready to glare at anyone who enters the buildling.
But at least here he won't have to baby-sit Potter and his friends.

Deathstroke the Terminator stood in the front lawn of the Winchester Mansion. Gazing upon it his one eye narrowed in suspicion. A feeling of anger nagged at him as he recalled being removed from his battle with the accursed Titans. Perhaps at this house he can find another way to remove them from his life. Readjusting the handgun on his thigh and strapping his sword to his back he strode forward towards the door of the mansion.

I thought I was dead. I should be dead. Where am I?
She frantically rubs her hair and body to see if she's still covered in pig's blood. Not even her dirty pillows have blood on them anymore.
As she looks around, she sees she's on a strange staircase that seems to lead nowhere, so she walks back down the stairs and peeks around the corner to see a beautiful ballroom with stained glass windows in the shape of spider webs...

IC- Room 1408
Since it was first built, Room 1408 had been misunderstood. Many people thought it was an evil room, that it killed people. But it didn't. Though upwards of 80 people had died in it, Room 1408 was by no means evil. Mostly those people had committed suicide, or taken acid and thrown themselves out the window. It wasn't 1408's fault that only crazy people wanted to sleep in it. In fact, 1408 was nothing but kind to it's occupants, leaving them after dinner mints and replacing old toilet paper rolls on it's own volition. Sometimes, Room 1408 would knit. It enjoyed kittens. It liked to keep itself at a cool 74 degrees Fahrenheit. Room 1408 was confused though. Normally, it was surrounded by Room's 1407 and 1409. Sometimes they would talk about the weather. However, 1407 and 1409 were not there anymore. Where was Room 1408? What had happened? How had it moved? You can't move a room on the 13th floor of a hotel in New York! That's crazy talk.

Fett hated it when they tried to be funny. Especially this one. This one was a hard prey to catch. But he'd found him. And he'd come prepared.
"What's wrong, Fett? No mouth?"
Solo was starting to annoy him. He was ready to finally capture Solo. And then---

IC as Heathcliff (Wuthering Heights):
One instant Heathcliff was riding through the Moors and the next he was approaching a mansion from the Southeast. Puzzled, he looked about. Passing by a fountain and wondering if Catherine had finally come to haunt his dreams... for this must be a dream. The sights he was beholding were just to bizarre. He approached the house with caution. Everything looked so strange. At the door he dismounted and tied his horse to a column on the porch. He heard voices from within and strained to hear his beloved Cathy's sweet voice.
His muddy boots thumped on the steps as mud from the Moors was dislodged. The door was open and so he strode in. Beside the door was a large book sprawled open to a guests page.

He then began to look about at the odd furniture and strange people. Oddly, he felt at home.

Carrie realized the ballroom was empty. She strode thru it wondering at this old brightly painted house. She walked thru a door on the other side of the room. She entered into what looked like a foyer, and saw a dark, scary man looking around and the strangest, dead looking man she'd ever laid eyes on.

Magua continued to follow the trail of the English scout through the woods, but it had become muddled and difficult to understand. Magua saw where the trail of the white-tail deer crossed the scout's trail but he was confused by the tracks of the 1997 Ford F-150 that now crossed his trail. Magua looked up an saw he was no longer near the shores of the Horrican. Magua's French father's would be unhappy that he had lost the scout. Slowly, Magua entered the strange English fortress that he had discovered...
