Well, it's that time again. Though we know that San Antonio will probably bore its way to another title, there's no harm in seeing what happens along the way. The Suns will probably find another way to lose out in unbelievable fashion and we'll find out if the new-look Celtics are worth the hype they're getting. There are also over two dozen other teams to watch (some more than others).

Here's to a good season ahead and better playoff matchups for all.

Spurs over Bulls in 6 for the finals.

edit: And it won't be unbelievable when the Suns lose. It will be because Duncan/Boozer/Yao destroys the midgets. tongue

I'm assuming they won't trade for him. If they trade for him, meh. Probably the celtics come out of the East, though the Pistons have a run left in them, I think. Amir Johnson baby!

I think the Pistons are better than the Celtics...they have better cohesion and experience together.

To say it's going to be a rough year for the Lakers would be a vast understatement. I've come to accept the fact that Kobe will be traded at some point, so there's no bother for me to get that upset over it. It will be interesting to see how Farmar/Crittenton/Bynum will develop this year, and how Chris Mihm does after missing all of last season due to injury. Having Derek Fisher back is nice, and it will be frustrating to see Kwame Brown waste minutes that somebody else could be playing, everytime he's on the court. I predict another 8th seed, maybe 7th, finish for the Lakers, with another 1st round playoff exit. Obviously, if they prove me wrong, it will be great. If they prove me right (or worse), then at least it's expected.

Without Greg Oden, the Blazers won't do much this year. But when he's healthy, then they'll become a force to be reckoned with. This year, I'm rooting for the Suns.

"Bore it's way to another title"???

well? I guess it depends on your "point of view"...but boring equals class act and fundamentally sound players and teamwork. I'll take boring over dazzling, all about me, and criminal records...any day.

Go Spurs

The Spurs aren't a very exciting team to watch. Their slow, methodical play is a yawn-fest. Other title winners in the last decade, like the Bulls, Lakers and Pistons, were all fast-paced and exciting teams.

I'm looking forward to this season for the Rockets. I think they're better than they were last year, but nowhere near as good as the hype they've been getting from many of the national media outlets. Cautiously optimistic is how I would describe my expectations this season. tongue

True enough. They never let the Spurs get too far ahead. Once Oden comes back, they'll definitely be a team to contend with.

In all honesty, when have you actually watched a Spurs game rather than regurgitate the ramblings of East and West Coast Sports Writers who'd rather write about the selfish antics of Kobe Bryant instead of covering real sports news?

While I agree the Finals weren't the most spectacular in history, which had more to do with the Cavalier's lack of offensive options in Games 3 and 4; however, Games 1 and 2, if you recall, were offensive clinics put on by the Spurs. Aside from being consistent on defense for the past decade, I challenge you to look up how their offensive productivity has increased over the past several years since guys named Parker, Ginobili and Michael Finley, to name a few, joined the time since the initial '99 Championship. Hardly boring, any of them.

If you ever played competitive basketball on any level, you would recognize what a pleasure it is to watch them day in and day out play basketball the way it should be played.

I for one hope they win one for the thumb.

Go Spurs!

? The Pistons are consistently one of the slowest teams in the league. Though they should change that this year, put 'sheed at center, Amir Johnson at PF and RUN BABY.

edit: Not that they are going to, but it'd be cool if they did.
