I never said Obama agreed with Wright's comments, but breaking ties with Wright after all these years just seems like Obama did it because it was hurting him politically.
Anyway, I think that Obama's relationship with Wright pales in comparison to Obama's relationship with terrorist, Bill Ayers. A member and founder of the Weather Underground who bombed the U.S. Capitol building. That will hurt Obama this fall more than Wright will.

Anyway, I could see how that remark could bug people, but in the context of the particular speech it kind of fits, although he might have gotten a little carried away. Still not very offensive though. To me, anyway.

506, I think the general point is that most every nation has done wrong or sinned. And doesn't the Bible in fact, prophecy, in both Isaiah, and Revelations, that all nations will drink of the cup of wrath for exactly this reason?

Yes, J-W, I know. I think the problem I have - and I don't want to get too off course so this will be all I say - is that he preached like it was a select group of people who have sinned. He didn't sound like a sinner himself and instead it sounds like he takes it upon his righteous self to judge and condemn the hearts of others. Of course, I am guilty of judging the heart now because I assume that's what Wright was saying. It was more about the tone and the way he was seemingly singling out groups but not everyone.

You do know that Ayers was never convicted of anything, right? And that you calling him a terrorist is simply playing on fear?

The charges against Ayers were dropped on a legal technicality. Ayers has admitted to doing it and said that he did not go far enough.

Obama and Ayers are friends and served on the same board of directors together of some Chicago foundation. Ayers started Obama's politcal career and helped him get recognition when Obama entered politics.
Besides his terrorists activities, there is a tape of Ayers burning the American flag and stomping on it. Now, I'm glad that I live in a country where it is legal for idiots to do this. But why be friends with someone who does it?
