I just don't think that's a valid reason not to vote for someone (or vote for them for that matter). Obama's policies are what make me want to vote for him, and his handling of his campaign. He's just taken down the Democratic machine of the age (at least nationally), and he did it by choosing good people around him and making wise decisions overall. That bodes well for a presidency.
How can Obama be any worse than Bush? At the very least, his speeches are easier to listen to.
Hillary on the other than...she reminds me of a female Bush, but deliberately evil instead of accidentally evil.

I think the only reason anyone can get this far in running for President in either major party is by being narcissistic and a little nuts
Nevertheless, I'm extremely happy that it's OVER. I was overjoyed just for that. Hillary, aarrrrrrrrrrrrrg! Of course she won't go away. She'll never go away. But this whole thing has (almost) been worth it just to see her eat it

I hear what you're saying. I just don't want to see someone with that kind of appeal and power to assume the presidency. There is too much of an opportunity to abuse such power. I truly believe if Bush had the charisma of Obama, that we would be in a dictatorship today. I think it is too much to risk putting someone like Obama into office. I am afraid of what he would do if he is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

A person of black descent just won the nomination of one of the two major parties for the first time in American history. How is that not history that we'll be talking about with our grandchildren? Ferraro is still mentioned, and she was a woman on the bottom-half.
Did you miss the part where I said "there might be some truth to it"?
Edit: It's one thing to acknowledge a historic event. It's quite another to pat yourself on the back as the architect. More importantly, he wasn't talking about his skin color, imo.

**deep inside Clinton Headquarters**
aide: Fräulein Clinton, we've analysed their campaign strategy, and there is a danger. Should we concede?
she turns, and glares, Cheney-like, at the aide, and he cowers
Hillary: CONCEDE? In my moment of TRIUMPH? I think you over-estimate his chances!

I appreciate the fact that practically everyone on CNN is roundly bashing Hillary's speech tonight as the wrong move.

I think a lot more people would be willing to accept Obama for who he is if he had more political experience. More people would overlook Obama's "ego" if it was coming from someone like Kerry. A lot of people think (maybe rightfully so) that Obama is too young and too inexperienced to run for President so soon.

Well done.
"their campaign strategy" should be something like "the delegate counts" instead, but well done.

Experience is overrated. Competence and judgment are more important than experience. Experience can and sometimes does teach the wrong lessons. Read Malcom Gladwell's book Blink to get a basic understanding of what I'm talking about. Experience is good sometimes, but sometimes it leads you astray. He had plenty of experience in local Chicago politics, and that's almost the same as a national position in terms of intensity.

On this point, Josh and I agree. His lack of experience and his age have absolutely no impact on what disturbs me about Obama.
I suspect that if I agreed with Obama on substance, his rhetoric would be inspiring to me, as opposed to downright creepy. But I think he's wrong on just about every substantive issue he addressed in his speech tonight. So when I heard him talking about "making Oil companies reinvest their record profits", for example, I felt like I was in that Twilight Zone episode where everyone was ugly but that had become the norm so our version of attractive was actually gross to everyone.

Congress does that, not the president.
