I have a manky ear now. 
A while ago I took out a ring as it was migrating, I left it without anything and then I put a stud in it. It went iffy and I had nothing to keep it open with. I got a small ring recently and reopened the hole, it went OK but it's been crusty and yuck for a few days since. It'll clear up soon, but it'll be yucky until it does.

My daughter had been trying to talk me into a tattoo for years. I told her when I find something I'm willing to spend my life with then maybe. Found one a couple weeks ago adn this was my MOther's Day gift from my kids.
Once it heals up, the splotchiness will be gone.

I have no piercings or tattoos, I've considered getting some small tattoos that represent things that have strongly affected my life such as Star Wars, literature, and science, but it's not in the cards right now. If I ever get a tattoo, it won't be when I'm seventeen. But they are something to toy around with until I'm a bit more able to judge what I want on my body for the rest of my life.

A friend of my dad's is the #1 tattooist in the state. Apparently he also lost a bet to my dad and owes him a free tattoo from about 15 years ago. I've been wanting one for awhile, and I'm hoping to cash in on the ancient lost bet.
I used to want two interlocking hearts on my ankle.... several of my friends and I were going to get matching ones. However, they all chickened out and I want this design, anyway:
Two problems arise, though. One is that he considers himself an artist and won't copy other designs... you tell him what you want and he draws it up for you. So I don't know how I'd be able to trick him into making that exact design without showing him that exact design. The other problem arises where I hate needles and apparently your ankle is one of the most painful places to get a tattoo............

Hmm I am considering getting a new piercing (I like things that can heal up and disappear if I choose someday), but I don't know what to get. Are there any good reference sites out there to different types that people can recommend?

You could try showing him the picture and asking him to draw up something similar. This is probably the best thing I can think of, not only will he get to design it but you'll have a design that you'll like and it won't be an exact copy of that picture. As for the pain, you can get some really good local anaesthetic sprays and creams, I know of someone who used this to have a complete back piece done in two days, that's the entire back being done non-stop. You should ask about it.

bmezine.com has loads of galleries of different piercings. Many are NSFW, it's not for the squeamish either.
