The CUBS have been HEALTHY and playing SUB-PAR teams.
Soriano has missed quite a few games and now Zambrano is hurt. They keep winning.
They have 2 pitchers Looper and Loshe who have as good or better records than Zambrano or Dempster.
And you think Looper and Lohse are going to keep it up? They've never been this good before, there's no reason to expect them to continue to be this good into the second half. Just wait till Lohse starts giving up homers like he normally does.
When Pujols, Carpenter, Wainwright, and Wellemeyer come back, just how much better will the team be? And if they make some awesome trades before the deadline?.........
Carpenter is probably done for the season and even if he comes back you can't expect anything out of him. Wellemeyer is a bad pitcher having a decent couple of months. And it's not like Pujols has been out all season. He's missed two weeks. And leg injuries don't always go away. Just look at how often Chipper Jones is out of the lineup, constantly reinjuring his leg.
The Cardinals have a +28 run differential, the Cubs a +110. If anything, you should be worried about the Brewers who are closer in the standings and run differential to the Cards than the Cards are to the Cubs.
Amazing.

One more time...
EDIT: So around town the advertising for the Indians this year is "Are you in the Tribe?" I think it should be changed to "Hey, at least we're not Kansas City!*)

Probably won't be long, as he's up for free agency soon, and we really need some bats in the lineup.
We should at least trade him, and get something for him before he walks, and you know damn well he will, because Cleveland won't be able to come up with the offer that the big money clubs will surely offer him.

The Good: Eric Stults great performance (CG-9 innings, 4 hits, 0 ER, 3 K's), Ethier's single scoring Pierre in the first, Martin with an RBI single to score Ethier in the first, DeWitt's 2-RBI double (scoring Loney & Kemp) in the 4th- follwed by Stults sac fly that scored DeWitt, gaining ground on Arizona (since they lost last night, Dodgers now only 3 game out of first), splitting the first 2 games of the series against the White Sox.
The Bad: Leaving 5 men on base.
The Ugly: None!
