Lowe has a no-no going.

I hope I jinxed him.

There wasn't a single baserunner until the 5th inning.

EDIT: Jinx worked. Back to regular baseball. Go Braves.

I don't think the reverse jinx works: you gotta be a broadcaster or fan of the team to do it.

EDIT: Blanco may have broken it up, but two instances of retiring the first fifteen in three games is pretty good for a pitching staff.

Speaking of the Braves, they may only be 5/6 games behind Philly, but I wonder when they will throw in the towel and deal Texiera.

Well, as long as someone jinxes it, it doesn't have to be me.

The Good: Lowe's great start (7 2/3, 2 hits, 1 ER, 4 K's), Kemp's solo homer in the 6th inning, Jones RBI single in the 7th inning, Saito notching his 17th save of the season, taking 2 out of the 3 game in this series against the Braves, getting back to a first place tie (Arizona lost last night).

The Bad: Leaving 4 men on base.

The Ugly: Ethier going 0-4, DeWitt going 0-3, Kent not playing due to back stiffness.

The Good: Martin going 2-4 with 2 RBI's (one of which was a solo homer in the 6th), Ethier going 2-4 with an RBI, Kemp going 1-5 with an RBI.

The Bad: The excellent relief pitching from Kuo/Broxton/Saito (a combined 5 innings, 3 hits, 0 ER) going for naught, leaving 7 men on base.

The Ugly: Park's start (4 innings, 9 hits, 4 runs-3 ER), Hanley Ramierz going 5-6 with an RBI (that being a solo homer in the top of the 11th that ended up being the game winner for the Marlins), losing a game to the Diamondbacks.

THIS AIN'T JUST A DODGER UPDATE THREAD... tongue

Roy Halladay got the two-hit complete-game win over the Yanks tonight, making him 11-6 on the season. Rod Barajas and Matt Stairs knocked in the homers, and the Yanks (especially Posada with his hilarious throwing error!) basically stunk. The biggest boos were of course reserved for A-Rod, and he played like he deserved them. It's always good to see the Bombers lose, especially to my boys. The Jays haven't had too many high points this year, but this game would qualify.

I want to have his babies.

You should wait a couple of weeks. I'm sure he'll have plenty of time off next time his shoulder stops working.

Amazing.

EDIT: The colors! B looks GLORIOUS!

EDIT PART DEUX: Tunick, don't give up the recaps. Yes, they're in vain, but no more than the irritating red color of your posts. Besides, nothing makes me happier after a Mets/Dodgers series than to see:

The Good: Nothing.

You can talk trash about the Dodgers all you want, but never diss on the red. shame_on_you tongue

The Good: Martin's RBI single accounting for the only Dodger run last night.

The Bad: Leaving 3 men on base.

The Ugly: Stults start (6 innings, 6 hits, 3 ER), the "offense" (1 run, 5 hits), losing a chance to get back into a first place tie with the Diamondbacks, losing the first two games of the series against the Marlins.

Lifelong Yankee Bobby Murcer lost his battle with brain cancer today and passed away at the age of 62.

He spent 12 years of his career with the Yankees, and the day he retired joined the broadcast team, where he remained until brain cancer forced him out in 2006.

.277/.357/.445 in 17 seasons.

The buzzsaw is humming fine against the balsa wood made of Giants and Rockies batters, but eventually a regular corner outfielder has to be acquired, as there are only so many hits you can get out of Tatis, Easley, and Endy (though he does have the best OF glove in the majors) when facing the tougher teams that may score some runs and even take leads against the Mets.

While the Giants and Rockies stink, they're still comprised of some major leaguers, so this streak the Mets are on is pretty meaningful. Not as sexy as the no-no, but thirteen hits and four runs in five days is pretty ridiculous.
