I recall El Duque stealing a base last year or two years ago, and I think it was against Maddux.

The buzzsaw is humming fine against the balsa wood made of Giants and Rockies batters, but eventually a regular corner outfielder has to be acquired, as there are only so many hits you can get out of Tatis, Easley, and Endy (though he does have the best OF glove in the majors) when facing the tougher teams that may score some runs and even take leads against the Mets.
Supposedly Church will be ready to go when his 15 days are up and Angel Pagan, not that I was overly thrilled with him in Spring, but he's better than what's out there now, should be ready after the break. But yeah, a nice left fielder would be nice. Too bad the farm system is borderline empty.
Amazing.

The Good: Kent's RBI ground out in the 1st, Kemp's solo homer in the 2nd, Ethier's solo homer in the 8th.
The Bad: Leaving 8 men on base, Kuroda's decent start (6 2/3, 7 hits, 3 ER, 5 K's) going for naught.
The Ugly: Saito having to leave the game in the 9th due to a sore shoulder, Troncoso giving up 2 runs in the top of the 11th inning, losing 3 in a row to the Marlins, falling back more in the standings to Arizona, Jones going 0-5 with 5 strikeouts (though he did reach base on the last one)-the 5 K's tying a Dodger record.

MLB's gotta give TBS some flexibility in scheduling Games of the Week, because when you have the opportunity to show a marquee pitching matchup like Webb-Hamels, you can't air Orioles-Red Sox (and the umpteenth Red Sox game on national TV-they are the world champs, but they're not playing a worthwhile team). On that note, it is ridiculous two of the three Rockies-Mets games this weekend will be on national TV. I guess NL Champs and a contending team sounded good this past winter. Now FOX and ESPN games have inconvenient start times which makes scheduling difficult, but TBS games are on at 1:30, so it shouldn't be that hard to move some games around.

Yeah, it must suck now that the Dbacks have been demoted to safety scissors.

So we are at the All-Star break. Cubs lead my beloved CARDS by 4.5 games in the Central but the CARDS lead the NL WC by .5 ahead of the Brewers. W/the eminent return of Carpenter and Wainwright I think the CARDS have to go for another power batter. Jason Bay or Mark Texiera would be nice, and if there is a quality left-handed reliever available I think that should be their focus for the trade deadline.
Don't know if they can catch the CUBS. Have to admit the CUBS are good and geered for a WS run, but I know they have a chance at the WC. Once you get in the playoffs anything can happen but w/out a doubt the CARDS definitely have to pick up another big bat and lefty reliever.

The Good: The 6-run 1st inning for the Dodgers, Billingsley's great start (7 innings, 5 hits, 1 ER, 13 K's-a new career high), avoiding getting swept by the Marlins, gaining a game on Arizona (thus being only 1 game out of first at the break).
The Bad: Leaving 9 men on base.
The Ugly: These opening 2 paragraphs on Dodgers.com, concerning Saito' injury:
A concerned Takashi Saito couldn't brush his teeth Sunday morning without feeling discomfort in his right elbow, more anecdotal evidence for the Dodgers to be prepared for the worst.
The closer undergoes an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of damage to his elbow, which tightened up and forced him from Saturday night's game. But the expectations are not good, other than Saito will probably start the second half on the disabled list. If he's lucky, he won't need surgery.

I think this is one of the best first half seasons for the MLB in as long as I can remember. I know my team is not leading their division but they are right there in contention for the division and leading the WC. Still think Ankiel thowing out not one but two baserunners trying to get to third from 250ft away, as well as hitting a homer in the game, is the best single performance of the first half so far.
Gonna be a great second half regardless of who wins.
Baserunners trying to advance against Ankiel=
