Shockey can still create matchup problems and is good after the catch, but has iffy hands and a big mouth.

Brett Favre another great that should have just retired at the top of his game. Now all this drama and talk of going to another team. It would be wrong to see him in another teams uniform like seeing Jerry Rice in a Raiders uniform. It was wrong and sad.

The difference is Brett can still play, a 38 yr old QB is different then a 38 yr old RB or WR. Plus there aren't that many great QB's in the NFL right now. Here are all the teams were Brett could walk in and be an upgrade:
GB (Rodgers)
Jets
Buf
Mia
Balt
Cle
Hou
Jax
Ten
SD
Den
KC
Oak
Giants
Wash
Det
Min
Chi
Car
TB
StL (depends on Bulgers health)
Atl
Ari
SF
That leaves 8 QBs that I'd consider over Brett.
Brady
P. Manning
Palmer
Big Ben
Brees
Romo
McNabb (if healthy - which is an issue)
Hasselback
Now obviously a lot of the weaker teams have problems in many areas but I really don't see any of those other 24 QB's being better than Brett at the moment. Maybe in another 2-3 years, but not right now.
As a Bears fan it kills me, but I'd take him on the Bears in a heartbeat.

You can see Brett Favre in a different uniform by going by to his first season.
He rode the bench for the Falcons.

Brett may have been selfish and seemingly opposed to even playing for the Jets, but I'm gonna welcome him with open arms. This acquisition reminds me of the Johan Santana trade. Both the Jets and Mets were on the sidelines, only expected to drive the trade value up, but both got their man. The picks could be costly, but Favre gives the Jet offense some juice to go along with the souped up offensive line. Sure, he can lob those balls into triple coverage, but it sure beats Pennington's sideline passes being routinely picked off by corners who keep guessing right.
It won't happen, but if Brett wins here, the New York media will make sure to drum him up as the greatest football player of all time.

The only thing that I would be concerned about if I was a Jets fan would be will Favre be able to learn the new offensive system. Favre has been in a West Coast offense since the early 90s. He is in his late 30s, coming into the camp late and he is stubborn and has shown a reluctance to learn new things.

That's true, and it will be tough for Mangini and Schottenheimer -both are younger than Brett- to reach to Favre. Perhaps Alan Faneca, one of the most respected lineman in the league, will be the bridge between the two parties.
BTW, I am not worried about any Madden curses -will they change the cover?- because the Jets were already cursed. Maybe two wrongs will make a right.
