I had hoping Favre would've gone to the Bucs. I was ready to buy my Favre jersey.

could care less about this, thank god the Farve situation is over. Farve and the Packers should have settled this 2 weeks ago, or whenever he decided to come out of retirement and play.
Both sides are at fault for dragging this mess on for too long.
Both the packers and the jets probably won't even make the playoffs anyways, or if the Jets are lucky they'll be in the WIld card race.

I for one am glad he did not. Garcia is a more than capable QB as he proved last season. Favre should have stayed retired. He may help the Jets and any team in a division that hurts the Dolphins is good in my book! Joe Montana went to KC after his glorious stint in SF... How well did that pan out? Look for a repeat this season in NY.

Montana in KC? I would take an AFC title game appearance.
The Bucs' hesitancy to trade for Favre is understandable. He's not a huge upgrade over Garcia, but for the Jets it was a no-brainer. And I was thinking more about the offense and realized it won't be that hard to integrate Favre into it. The Jets are a mostly conservative run first team, but they mixed in west coast precision passing from time to time with Pennington. Favre can throw short and long passes, so I don't think the transition will be so bad, especially if the o-line improves the running game.

We'll know where the Jets are going this season after the first 3 games.
Week 1: @ Miami. Big Tuna as GM or not, the Jets still find a way to beat them.
Week 2: home game vs. Tom Brady and the Pats. I expect this to be the game of the year, as Favre gets picked 5 times for TDs and the Pats roll. NY papers(the Post and Daily News) will declare Brett is the worst thing to hit NY since 9/11. On the other hand, if by some miracle the Jets win, he'll be lauded as the greatest player since Broadway Joe took them to the Promised Land.
Week 3 against LT and the Chargers. a win here puts them in good shape for a playoff run.
so, they go 3-0, they will be a wild-card at worst, and possibly give the Pats a scare for Division Leader all the way to the end of the season.
More likely, Jets go 1-2, and a disaster in week two will have Brett ready to retire by Halloween.

The schedule opens tough, but it's not that bad the second half. If they go 2-2 into the bye that'll be fine with me.

Are you kidding me? Montana put in 3-4 solid seasons in KC, including leading them to an AFC Championship game.

Man, this is crazy. Brett's a Jet. Never thought I'd see the day.
Well, this ought to be an interesting beginning to the season.

Wooo, how bout them Chiefs? Brodie Croyle looking sharp and in command on his 8 minute, 80 yard opening drive for a TD verses the Bears defense And even Huard and Thigpen have managed to put together scoring drives. Obviously the Chiefs have a long way to go, but hey, this was about 300% better than our last game And Dorsey and Albert were both out, as was Donnie Edwards. I'm very pleased with how the Chiefs did tonight. Definitely showing the change and the rebuilding youth movement. I'm especially intrigued and impressed by our new playbook and calling. Way, way improved.
I look forward to seeing the Chiefs at home next week and hopefully seeing them continue to improve. It was actually nice to play against another team that was actually trying in the preseason and left their first team in a quarter past us, even. Unfortunately next week's game is the last game I'll even get to see on TV until December because I'll be out of the country
Still... hooray for breaking the losing streak and I hope Brodie Croyle keeps playing like this through the season. The Chiefs win!
Kubacca, I'm interested to hear what you thought of the game.
EDIT: Um yeah, the only reason the Chiefs didn't go to the Superbowl with Montana was because he got a concussion when we were ahead in I think the 3rd quarter of the Championship game. He had several good years with us. But he was only there 2 years I think. And he was 2 years younger than Favre. And the Chiefs were better than the Jets. I really doubt Favre will be able to do enough to help the Jets.

It's preseason. No one blitzes and defenses are vanilla.
And I think Alan Faneca, Damien Woody, Calvin Pace and Kris Jenkins would beg to differ regarding your homerish sentiments on the Jets and Chiefs.
