Here's a proposal for a new stadium in Los Angeles. They said if a team commits to moving there this year, they can start construction and have it ready for 2011. There's supposed to be a press conference today.

Great news! grin I'll believe when it happens/is announced, of course. Oh, I want the Chargers to move up here. It's the only logical choice. tongue

Here is an idea: how about LA getting a new franchise, rather than stealing another city's team again?

Juliet, I don't think McNair is a HOFer. He had a really good career and I was definitely a fan of his. But without the Super Bowl win, he doesn't have the career numbers and statistics to justify his admission to the Hall ala Fran Tarkenton, Dan Fouts and Dan Marino.

Don't move the Jags. plain

The city is very fair weather here. Games often get blacked-out, but still, after this season I can forsee team support growing.

Don't move them.

I wouldn't mind an expansion franchise, either. All I want is for the NFL to comeback.

Goodell already said he would not expand the league just to add LA.
If they decided to expand by 2 teams yes, but not 1.
And he said the league doesn't need 2 extra teams at this time.

I'm excited. There are two Aggies in the draft (one slated in the mock draft to be in Miami, yuck, but I guess that means he might actually get to play!)

I'd love to hear on draft day that the Niners trade their first round pick for Chad Johnson. dancing

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer cites a KJR-AM report that Shaun Alexander has been told the Seahawks will release him today.
The team hasn't confirmed the rumor, but it's basically been a foregone conclusion since the team acquired Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett through free agency. The move was likely delayed until Alexander could pass a physical. Cutting him will save Seattle almost $5 million under the salary cap.

I predict that "Pulling a Shaun Alexander" will become a new sports idiom.

As a lifelong Bengals fan, and an until-recently Chad supporter, all I have to say is that the 49ers can ******* have him. Although, if I had any say in the matter, I'd love to see him traded to Atlanta.

Be careful what you wish for Chad.

He's pretty overrated though. He doesn't score a lot of touchdowns, doesn't break tackles or get a lot of yards after the catch, he doesn't provide veteran leadership and, most importantly, disappears in the clutch. The only thing you can count on him to do every game is drop a ball or blow a route on a big 3rd or 4th down or at the end of a contested game.

Meanwhile T.J. Houshmanzedeh has stepped up to provide the catches and yards that Chad does produce; plus he gives you more TDs, more yards after the catch, big plays in big situations, and veteran leadership - and he's not selfish.

Chad will not be traded this season though. The Bengals would take an 8 million dollar cap hit meaning that they would have to cut starters and not sign any draft picks (they have 10 this year). He's talking about retirement now since he won't be traded. It serves him right for not being man enough to avoid falling into the trap of the self-fulfilling prophecy.

Cincy should take that deal from Wash, they are offer like two picks, one #1 and a conditional #3 which could turn into a one.

Consider Moss was traded for 4th rounder, if I were Cincy I'd take the picks.
