That's so patently false, I can't even begin to refute it.
Any family unit of loving, caring individuals who treat each other and their children with love, honesty, mutual respect, etc is the superior relationship regardless of the two or more individuals involved in the relationship and their species or gender.

J-Rod posted: It's the relationship that is best suited for raising children.
Look, people can live however they want. But the one man/one woman relationship is simply the superior relationship.
That is just so very wrong. Same sex couples can do a lot better job of raising children than heterosexual couples and no one type of relationship is inherently better than any other. I don't know a single gay couple in a 'bad' relationship. My Uncle has been in a relationship with his partner for quite some time now and afaik they're perfectly happy together. On the other hand, a family friend had her husband just walk out on her and their four children.
I'm sorry. Your post is just speculation. While encouraging case studies have been done, there have been no long term statistical analysis completed showing the effects of single gender child rearing.
And at the same time, the male/female relationship is the only one that can produce children and as such is the superior relationship.

Wrong. There are all sorts of ways for gays to procreate. Or adopt one of the many babies that straight people carelessly and thoughtlessly bring into the world and then can't care for.

Which is why there's such discrimination against sterile people getting married...

This is such a loaded claim it's not funny.
First, the only thing needed for the next generation is the fusion of gametes, which does not need to occur within a marriage.
Second, the available research data shows *zero* difference between children raised in same-sex vs. opposite-sex households. We covered this ad nauseum in the Senate homosexuality thread (and yes, I did provide the relevant study abstracts in the process).
Third, all that is required for the next generation to be tenable is socialization, which does not require a 1 man + 1 woman relationship. All that *is* required to produce the next generation is a loving and supportive family environment.

The attitude that gay relationships are somehow inferior is real nice though...

When I was younger I didn't think that gay couples should be allowed to adopt. But I changed my opinion on the subject years ago.

They are inferior to polyamorous relationships (as are heterosexual relationships). More is better, amirite?

Careful now. The US recognizes marriage. As such it has Constitutional duties in the recognition of marriage. That's why there is a framework for marriage that everybody has to adhere to. But nobody is told that they can't marry except for the very young.
Quix said...First, the only thing needed for the next generation is the fusion of gametes, which does not need to occur within a marriage.
You are right. But statisticly it the resulting adult of this fusion is most successful when it happens within the boundries of marriage. That's why the state has an interest in recognizing this relationship above all others.
Second, the available research data shows *zero* difference between children raised in same-sex vs. opposite-sex households. We covered this ad nauseum in the Senate homosexuality thread (and yes, I did provide the relevant study abstracts in the process).
There is nothing that we could find outside of individual case studies. Unless you have found new information. Even so, that type of union cannot produce offspring making it inferior.
Third, all that is required for the next generation to be tenable is socialization, which does not require a 1 man + 1 woman relationship. All that *is* required to produce the next generation is a loving and supportive family environment.
Maybe to nurture the next generation...maybe. But it takes a man and a woman to produce it.

That doesn't make straights superior to gays.... nor straight relationships superior to gays.

Doesn't it? Having an ability to create life isn't a big deal? And a big responsibility?

Rapists have a lot of responsibility then?

Yup. That's why it's illegal.
Just because pregnacy happens through rape doesn't make the ability to create life any less amaizing or valuable.
Though I'm not sure what point you were trying to make.
