Here is a hexameter line I was challenged to compose a few days ago.

Poetae et agricolae insulam oppressunt.
That is my very, very favorite line from my Latin I book.
And about the only thing I remember how to say in Latin.

Err, that doesn't look correct.
At least, oppressunt doesn't. It's close to the perfect passive participle of opprimo, which is oppressus,a,um but participles are declined as nouns are. They do not get conjugated.
And if it were a passive participle, then there would be no accusative there with insulam.

The first sentence of Latin I remember learning - from my dad, years before I actually studied it - was "in spatium noctis miserorum vulnera durant." (Google has just told me that it's a slight misquote of Petronius. How strange.)
Otherwise, arma virumque cano, and all that jazz. Actually I've been reading more Ovid than Virgil lately but none of it seems to have stuck word-for-word.
EDIT: oppresserunt, possibly?

That seems likely. I don't think you can actually do that syncopation, but it does make sense if it's oppresserunt.
