Murphy said that he wanted an "R", but if he doesn't know what the director's direction is going to be, than there's no reason to assume it'll end up that way. Remember Part 3 managed to get an "R", and it sucked beyond belief.
As long as its awesome I don't care what they rate it. I don't think I ever seen all of part 3 in one sitting and I didn't know/care what it was rated. I managed to purge part 3 from my memories so it doesn't matter much to me anymore what it was rated, but I can't forget who fraked up it was though.
