heh, I just got my stimulus check today. $600.00. I think I may just head out to Adventureland one of these days and find some scraggly looking guy and mock him for making peanuts while he sells cotton candy to soccer moms and their gaggle of kids.

Funny you should be working that ride. My dad was a commercial claims adjuster back in the 80s and 90s and Adventureland was one of his accounts. He didn't do a whole lot with them as they ran a pretty tight ship back then, but he did tell me of one claim he had to work where a kid was operating that ride that you're working. Apparently, the kid had a ciagarette lighter with him and was tossing it up in the air and catching it as he waited for people to come and board the ride. Anyway, he got a little distracted with things and lost control of catching his lighter. In the attempt to catch it (and hide it from management who frowned upon such activities) his arm flew up into the air and got caught in some of the gears and mechanisms that keep the ride moving smoothly. His arm was stuck and was torn off at the shoulder leaving his arm going up and along the cables and him laying in the ground in shock with blood loss and the dawning notion of being a freshly minted amputee. As you can guess, the arm was a complete loss.
The park was later ruled to be not at fault as they had documentation showing that the employee had been properly trained about the ride and advised of safety procedures. Don't know much else about this as I'm relying upon memory for this one, but do be careful.
And I just remembered, I would have been out there last weekend for the employee picnic my employer was having, but as you can imagine, I'm not the type who goes out for such things where I have a shirt on my back declaring to everyone else who I work for, especially when it's the cable company and you just know how many people love to lambast them for everything and anything bad that has happened to them in their life.

Geez Louise, there are just horror stories abound all over this damn park, aint there? I was working the ferris wheel a couple weeks ago, and one of the guys told me we can't let anyone ride alone because some twelve year old kid commited suicide on it a few years ago. Jumped right off the top.
